The Ultimate Goal of Yoga?

To develop and refine the nervous system the tool in which we can perceive God and creation, to develop the ability at which one can love deeply and live in that deep seated love of the heart!

Love it over the past month I've been doing hours and hours of yoga a week and I'm loving it, I'm becoming quite addicted.

Union and complete liberation is the "goal" of yoga.

Moksha 30-01-2013 12:49 AM

It is simply Self Realization.

Yoga is much more. See Patanjali. Yoga for kids is same as quantum physics for kids.

Opening doors and finding truth via physical expression. The union of body, mind, bringing simplicity, contentment and trust into universal and human nature flow. To simply BE in the physical temple hosting your soul. Total healing.

yoga

yes it is to blend and merge the 3 elements that we consist of - body, mind and soul with divinity

Well, I think Self~realization says it well.
Fine tuning ourselves physically and mentally and thus spiritually
to reach our Goal and be able to retain it...for more than a glimpse.
Sustaining self realization is where hatha yoga discipline helps.

One of my Yoga teachers said something interesting the other day about this during class. She said something like this (I think): Yoga is not about becoming perfect, it is about realigning your body (read self if it pleases you) to its perfect state.

I agree but it is not just body, it is mind, spirit, heart - and body includes your digestion, your internal organs - the lot.

It is an idea that they are separate the same way it is an idea that they are not, either way you choose it becomes your reality. I have chosen the latter where it all is a whole and in that light the body can simply be seen as the manifestation of my whole (in this reality).

Belle 07-10-2013 11:19 AM

I like that!

I also think - forget the goals, throw out the goals, that creates a judgment associated towards it.

Yoga is a journey which is an unknown so leave it as open and fluid as you can.

These things are already true though... one doesn't need to do anything to be in liberated union.

LibbyScorp 26-10-2013 02:30 AM

words can not describe my love for yoga.
