Plants that have spiritual meanings or history.
 

In spring I am planning redoing one of my flower beds. I would like to go with a spiritual theme in plants. Anyone have any ideas I can work with? I live in cool USDA zone 5.

Have you ever looked at growing peonies? They seem to take care of themselves.

The garden I am redoing is on the lake Michigan shoreline rarely sees above 80°f I do have a peonie there the thing is massive and does very well. I do plant sunflowers but have to grow the shorter ones. The wind blowes down the tall ones. At my house I had some 10'+ sunflowers last year.

Yes, the tall sunflowers can look straggly when they get very tall. Like you say, the shorter ones are much better. Sounds a lovely spot where the garden is :smile:

Sunflowers are hilarious. It's almost as if they watch you and laugh at you..:D
