Simply lessen the size in Photoshop or comparable program. Possibly Paint, before you transfer.

Sapphirez 01-01-2019 01:26 AM

glorious paintings, these are captivating on many levels :color:

Beautiful as always, Uma.

You have talent :) I do feel painting like the last one is more your style? And the lady in the meadow.

If you do landscapes make sure large bushes and trees don't end up looking like solid columns. Unless you want to go for that style. It makes them look unnatural. You can see through bushes and trees, a bit of background or sky. They're not solid.
The same goes for smaller shrubs, and especially the top layer, for instance the ones bordering a lake, should have some 'see through' and/or sticky out bits.
Look at the last posted landscape. The red plant stuff in the foreground... Their tops form a rounded shape, almost like a horizontal line on the canvas. That's not natural.
It's exactly those small details that make the difference when painting a landscape.
Very easy when you see Bob (Ross) do it, but the man had decades of experience and had developed his own technique and how to work brushes.
The same goes for highlights. Put less paint on the brush and make sure you don't end up with highlights that all have the same (fan brush) shape. Same for the smaller brush you've used :p
Less paint, again, see through. Highlight are just that, highlights. Not solid blobs of paint.
Experiment with other brushes for this, if you've watched Bob Ross, he can do just about anything with a fan brush. Doesn't mean you can do the same thing. You have to find your own brushes & technique for things.
I'm not a fan brush magician either. Stupid things either spread out all over the place when they shouldn't or don't when they should.
But less paint on the brush for highlights will certainly help.
And as bob Ross says: think about each individual limb when painting a tree/bush/shrub AND when putting highlights on them. Look at the second last landscape, which btw is effing stunning: the highlights on trees on the left hand side all are a diagonal line. Trees aren't like that, they have different shaped and sized branches, clutters of leafs which all have different size & shapes highlights as well. Think about EACH limb as you paint.
Hope that helps. Keep up the happy painting!

Thanks Fairy Crystal,

I'll think about all you've suggested. I wish I had more time for painting. I'm in the process of doing a big purge at home at the moment - getting rid of clutter. Finally I have space to work in again. Hopefully I can post something new soon.

Composition is something I'm not too good at - hence all the straight lines.

Thank you Tobi. I'm starting to paint again after a very long break and it feels wonderful to do that.

Here's a technique I'm experimenting with...

Close up of a painting I'm working on... (got about 10 going simultaneously)...I blew it up because it looks cool like this - the paint is still wet.

Yes you have an amazing talent Uma. I love the "wet water" painting above! The water looks so alive especially while the paint is still wet

You're very kind. I'm building up a quantity to select the best ones and then try to sell them. Very new at this - and totally ignorant re. the business side of it. In the meantime, I paint for the joy of it and hopefully life will let me continue.

Native spirit 11-02-2019 11:36 PM

You have a beautiful Talent I'm sure you will do well with them

Thanks blackraven. Here is the gull, finished plus another one I call mole...

Sapphirez 17-02-2019 11:49 AM

Wow more incredible pieces, I am so glad that you are actively using and sharing your talent here with us! The bird painting you made your avatar is just a treasure, your birds and different techniques are interestingly cool and I love the different waters you've made recently! Just amazing

and the stag is so cute, the painting really draws you in, with it looking so peaceful, sweet and innocent yet strong and grounding, a little enchanting that forest opening

Uma 17-02-2019 12:58 PM

Thanks Sapphirez - means a lot to me

Uma 17-02-2019 08:23 PM

Who are they? Make up a story!

Sometimes things just "appear" when I'm painting, amazingly detailed like photographs. This is an extreme closeup of a painting where I saw these forms and I just painted around them. I'm just curious what you see and what story would you make up about it.

(It reminds me of La Malinche Hernan Cortez's Aztec wife holding their baby with a horse and someone behind the horse.)

Clio_86 17-02-2019 11:45 PM

Wow! You are very talented!

Uma 19-02-2019 03:01 AM
