there's trickery involved with this dream.
first off, there's no indication that you'd been given any kind of examination
prior to the scene, nor that you've experienced any discomfort leading you
to want a diagnosis be provided for you to explain it's cause... you're just
thrown into this situation without anything having led up to it.
second, a hospital has a specific function; they treat people with illnesses.
it's incongruent with 'normal life' experiences for you to be summoned to
hospital for that information to be given (i think that a consultation in a
doctors office would be protocol).
for this scene to be set in a hospital is seeming to apply "high pressure"
salesmanship practices, in order to stress the urgency of the 'problem',
and make you act in haste, without consideration.
since the doctors (?) have claimed your case as "terminal", and are
not offering to sell you any treatments, i'm ready to assume that the
motivating force behind the deceits is involving self-deception. you've
played a trick on yourself somehow, and this dream reveals it to be
involving your mortality.

consider that what you are is a 'directed life force' dream jo.
you are in charge of how you direct your life energy to flow.
cancer is emblematic of a non-directed life force energy... it serves
no purpose that is useful to living organisms. cancer has no life
force of it's own, it derives it's power from siphoning off energy
from a living host. it's your task to withdraw life energy from those
cancerous cells... if you were to allow circumstances of life to dictate
to you your state of being, then you would be empowering that
non-directed cancer to cause your demise. don't be deceived,
you are in charge of your health, and empowered to direct your
energies as you see fit.

i submit that your addendum, in post two, where you speak of
'real life' circumstances may be revealing a further degree of
self deception. i see nothing wrong with sharing the truth of
your state of being with others (presumably with those you
share concerns for/with). sympathy is not a weakness, and
pity is not a curse.
