a guest at their own funeral ?

I have heard that sometimes the person who has died, is present at their own funeral ~

has anyone experienced or " seen " something like this ?

and I am curious, what might be the reason for them to do so ? to just check on their family and friends, to give them comfort if they (the family and friends ) can sense their presence ?

blessings,

This happened to me at my cousin's funeral, almost a year ago. I was sitting in the main section of the church and to the left was another section, facing the main section.... from the corner of my eye, I " saw " my cousin sitting there, looking around and observing his own funeral.

That was a first experience for me .

There could be 2 reasons for this.
1. There are times that there are those who are unaware that they have passed over, they still believe they are in the here and now.
2. Some return to watch their own funeral and want to be around those they have left behind

I have a friend who saw her mother at her own funeral, she was standing in the background just watching. Her mother looked a few years younger and so much healthier :)

Before entering the crematorium my OH was communicatinging with his friend's sister-in-law -the deceased - after a short while she said the hearse has arrived. A few moments later the approaching hearse was seen coming over the hill. He later saw her standing at the side of her coffin looking at the people as they entered the room for the service. He later described how she was dressed as well as the colour that she was wearing in the coffin - all later verified by her husband and her son's who received much comfort from her presence.

one of my best friends step dads died two years ago. full of a room full of sensitives and mediums......instead of tears there was laughter, as the music kept messing up (not the song he wanted), plants being pushed over on their own, people seeing him in the corner rolling his eyes and laughing at things that were going on. In the end it ended up being a happy occasion with him being the ringleader and everyone was cracking up and saying "that's what Larry would have done for sure!".

If only all funerals could be seen as a happy occasion what a difference death would have on us all.

Whilst it could be explained away as 'just one of those things', at my father-in-law's funeral we witnessed a typical 'Terry' trait. (Terry being his name.)

The room was packed - he was a popular man. Very funny, life and soul of the party and always up for a joke.

It was February. As the coffin was making its way through the curtain, someone's mobile phone rang. To the tune of, 'We wish you a Merry Christmas'.

Inside I just shook my head knowingly - he would have loved that and I wouldn't have put it past him to orchestrate the whole event!

Also, I had a lucid dream a few years ago where I met a young boy who told me he was going to attend his own funeral that day. I asked him if everyone does and his reply was we have the option, but it's not compulsory. He was treating the whole thing as a party, something to celebrate, not mourn.

i plan on attending mine! if they play that depressing organ music instead of something i would like and sit around and cry......there's gonna be heck to pay. :D

ick.....we cry over a shell and say good by to a shell but we never let go of the soul. :icon_frown:

My hubby's family always celebrated funerals because they believed the deceased was on their way to a new happier life.
There was happy music, laughs galore etc.

That's excellent to hear Deepsea. Some people consider it disrespectful when we do this, funny old world hey?
