the nature of love
I recently got a book called "The Art of Loving" by the psychoanalyst Eric Fromm.
He says, of "brotherly love", that we love each other because we see in others our own humanity and divinity, all that makes us both human and divine - the capacity to love, feel, suffer, and be happy. We love each other because we recognize both our divine and human natures. There's a very attractive young lady on twitter who has a fetish for robots. She calls them her "robohusbands" and posts pics of all the robots she's infatuated with. She recently made a post to her many followers that said "I love u all". So I responded, "bless you beautiful...I love you too...I don't KNOW you, but I love you as a human being...but can you "love" a robot?" I'm hoping what I said was a healing for her, because I felt she had a deep conflict regarding love, men, and her own identity as a living being. I also hope she doesn't 'block' me. lol My point is that we love each other because of the LIFE WITHIN us - which is all that makes us both human and divine. We're conscious, living beings with a great capacity to love, suffer, and be happy. |

Note sure, but my suspicion is that said kind of prayer may be more important/effective than anything I (could) say or do. |
Good advice! I think I'll do that from now on.
