Same exercises or variety- choosing exercises

I'm just starting to learn qigong and trying to learn how to do energy work. Unfortunately I don't have very much money, otherwise i'd enroll in a class. I've been looking at the ridiculously huge selection of exercise, and was wondering if I should find one solid routine or if I could have a different one for each day of the week. I know when exercising in a physical sense it's recommended that a person change his routine every so often, not only to counter tolerance, but variety ensures a being able to work certain angles.
thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

You cannot run before you learn to walk...
Start with a Qigong Form and do it daily until you can do it without thinking to much, until your movements come natural, not forced. In time you will start to feel ' Chi ', then you can go further...

Take time, there is no hurry, have patience. What Form are you doing now ?

There are a few classic forms that are easy to learn. I recommend Eight Pieces of Brocade, and Ch'ien style Silk Reeling (Qi Gong, not Tai Chi Chuan. Five Elements Qi Gong is also very nice.

Which would be most suitable for a person recovering from surgery or chronic illness?

Any ' Soft ' Qigong Form would be suitable for you. Sitting in a chair is the best until you heal and feel stronger. Don't do any movements that cause you pain for now and take it slowly, even if you just do one move a few times a day it will be beneficial for your recovery. If I can help anymore PM me, I teach Qigong and would be happy to help in anyway I can.

Spring Forest Qigong is a very healing and powerful form. I suggest you try it.

qi gong emphasises cautious and subtle movement.
so start by doing both.
have one strong form, like tai chi and do this everyday.
but you can also throw in less formal excersises
focusing hard on tai chi will help you understand the subtlety of movement
work toward perfecting it
but as you perfect the physical
and become better at feeling your qi
play with it and get use to how qi feels
but never try to control it
qi gong is about giving it room to move on its own
and the ultimate goal for the practitioner
is to let go of all of the forms
and perform spontaneous qi gong
when you just follow your qi
and let it control your movement

Chi will never control your movement..... When you learn to have control over your chi you are able to control your body and mind
