does listening to a record of a mantra have the same effect as chanting it ?

Hi, No, although listening does have an effect, because the mantra is made of sacred vibrations and the effect is positive. But saying it yourself is different. Firstly you are performing a divine action this is powerful karmically, mentally, spiritually and physically on you. The effect is direct. You are taking the time to turn your mind to the divine, immersing it in the higher vibrations, this is much more powerful than just listening to a recording.
