Can't digest carbs

I can't digest wheat, quinoa, gluten, amaranth, rice, potatoes, gluten free products, corn, beans, and nuts, and I can't have too many fruits and vegetables.

There is something wrong with my intestine that digests carbs, but the rest of my intestine and other organs that digest protein and fat works fine, in fact I can digest animal products, including dairy really well and really fast.

I can eat oats and sweet potatoes/yams, those 2 things don't seem to bother me. For some reason I can digest sushi rice just fine but only the stuff they make in the restaurant, I've tried making it at home and it kills me.

I just ate most of a pot of salmon stew hoping it would keep me full but I am hungry already. In the stew I added a bunch of carrots, half of a big yam, a full onion, 2 big salmon fillets, half a cup of butter and a few cups of milk with dill spice, salt and pepper. The yams and carrots do not fill me up like they should, and since I digest all meat and dairy really fast, that does not keep me full for long either.

I might try to make some dumplings out of oat flour and add them to the stew, but other than that I'm not sure what other carbs I can eat that will fill me up and not hurt me.

Anyone else have this problem or know what other kinds of carbs I could eat that will keep me full?

Have you reached this verdict by doctors/diagnosis or is this from experimenting with what you eat. You saw you can't digest carbs, but go on and say you ate a yam. Yams are a carb. A cup of yams is about 40 grams of carbs.

Could be an issue with starchy carbs, which is most of the stuff you labeled. Fruits can be hard to digest because of the fructose in them.

I also have issues digesting many fruits and vegetables, and find meats easier to digest and tolerate.

I can eat yams and oats and a few veggies without much problem and I am quite aware they are carbs, which is the reason I mentioned it. I'm looking for other carbs ideas that might be good because I am so tired of eating only yams and oats.

I can't digest most carbs because there's something wrong with the part of my intestine that digests carbs, I know that from doctors/diagnosis and experimenting with what I eat.

Could be inbalance of bacteria and yeast in the gut. I have this too, all the foods you mention cause bloating for me and disscomfort. What happens is, a lifetime of bad diet, antibiotics, and other things can kill off some of our good bacteria (we need bacteria for digestion). Now, with a depleted bacteria storage in the gut and a diet consisting of carbs, we get a overgrowth of yeast (candida) in the gut (yeast eat carbs).

The best thing you can do for yourself is to take a strong probiotic. Make sure to get a good refrigerated type for a health store. This will help your digestion, and give you better bowel movements.

Try to make you diet consist of mostly fats and protiens. On a low carb diet, fats are extremely important as this will be your fuel source.

Try to make this a routine in your life. You can add carbs once and a while but make sure you are taking your probiotic

Have you tried swedes? They are a bit more filling and substantial than carrots or ordinary turnips, and would make a change from yams and carrots. They are very nice mashed with butter and black pepper, and can be quite filling alongside protein.
Also, can you handle squash? That is very nice too. And barley? Does that suit you? That is very filling and good.

My advice to you. Go for vegetarianism or veganism. Many problems will go away.

I'd say based on what he's said about his condition that veganism is a horrible idea!

A paleo diet would make a lot more sense..

Several years ago if I ate those foods, my whole system felt sluggish, lethargic, it was not pleasant. So I don't eat any rice, pasta, potatoes, bread. I can't eat nuts and seeds either due to a sensitivity to phytic acid.

Unfortunately many vegan proteins also contain carbs (such as peas, beans, lentils etc) Does quinoa (which is a seed) contain carbs also? I am always unsure.

I prefer vegan food. For compassionate reasons basically. But I can digest vegan protein sources well.

But if you cannot digest carbohydrates, then the Paleo diet sounds like it might suit you. I heard of someone the other day who had had ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis aka chronic fatigue syndrome) for 5 years and cured himself by adopting the Paleo diet. He had been vegetarian, but had to change his diet. Years later he is still in "remission" from CFS.
