Can you reincarnate into the past?

Lets say I was born 2010.

Can I reincarnate in 1500, for example? I heard that time doesnt exist actually, that everything is one, so can I live in the past in my next life or just in the future?

What do you think?

Teal 28-10-2013 10:40 PM

That is an interesting question. I don't think you can go backwards. Maybe in dreams like past life dreams.

Astral Jane 29-10-2013 02:37 AM

Short answer: NO, you cannot. You can only re-experience it, similar to watching a movie.

Time does exist. Time is real. My computer is real. I really am typing right now. Once I post this I can't take it back.

People who think time isn't real and death is an illusion should drive across the median and into oncoming traffic, cause an 80-car pile-up, kill a dozen people, then turn around and face their community and say "but it's all an illusion."

If someone says death isn't real, it's an illusion, that our bodies are not really ourselves (or not real!) - I want to say to them, "Why don't you go kill your children and see if you miss them?"

All this "illusion" business in pop-metaphysics -- it's a trap, a trick, and the damage it does is not trivial.

Boson 29-10-2013 03:13 AM

Hi Axlus,

I think as long as you live here in the physical world, time is linear and moves forward and not backwards. But on the flip side, I also think that you can access anything with the power of your mind from any space and time in the universe, including past lives.

Ecthalion 29-10-2013 07:15 AM

I think that all time, from the beginning to the end, just is. It's like all the space between Land's End and John O'Groats. We can only see the part we are in, but the rest is still there.

So, if reincarnation is real there would be no limit to when you were born or which life you could live. I think every life is like a book. After death we might choose a particular life from any point in history, much like we might choose any book to read from a whole library.

Augustinus 29-10-2013 10:52 AM

No. If so I would kill myself and reincarnate in the dark ages.

desert rat 29-10-2013 02:30 PM

As far as I know time only goes forward . I dont think you can reincarnate in the past . People are regressed in to past lives , they can be progressed in to future lives , but as I understand its more of a possiable life . To astral Jane , you might want to be a bit more careful on what you suggest on your posts . Most of the people reading the posts on this forum are normal stable people , but I dont think you would want the karma if some unstable person acted on one of your suggestions .

Tabby94 29-10-2013 07:23 PM

No from what I've read.

innerlight 29-10-2013 07:29 PM

While time is an illusion in the sense of the concept, it is still perceived as linear to those that live within the 3D. Which makes things happen in an ordered fashion. The present is the result of the past.. Now for an individual to come back into the past, it could create a future that would be altered to what it originally was. If one were to say change the course of history such as not ending slavery, everything as we know it today, would be very, very, different. The reality that existed would be in a continuous state of change.

At that point I think if one were to live in a time of long ago, it would be in a dimension or a reality where that time is still current.

Native spirit 29-10-2013 10:12 PM

 For the most part i agree with innerlight, but time has no meaning in the spirit realm.time is only prevelant to the earth plane.

What a wonderful thought that you could go back in time, but you may not reincarnate as a human. Purhaps coming back as your own pet cat, or your own next meal. Personally I would think that your karmic energy moves forward in time, this energy dictates your next rebirth.

Teal 30-10-2013 12:03 AM

So if you could for fun what time would you go back too?

Starr 30-10-2013 12:06 AM

There's no way of knowing for sure if we can, of course, but I've wondered this myself.

I'd love to be in a 20's speakeasy with a flask of gin on my garter, LOL.

Stevo 30-10-2013 01:03 AM

From another thread on here.. "It is only your human perception of earth time of being in the present that moves forward always, but what if you were in fact moving backwards? What if you are not even moving in any motion? Perhaps you are moving through something. But all you know is that you are moving, and things are changing. Forward is a silly word. Future is a silly word. Humans with all their words. There is no word that can translate really to what I am trying to tell you. When it comes to time you won’t know which way you are headed, you can go any direction, and anywhere, because when it comes to time, there is no such thing as direction, it all exists simutaneously,

Boson 30-10-2013 01:20 AM

Hi Stevo,

You may be right. But I personally think that for us humans, time has always existed or at least existed as a sane perception of time. Even from the very beginning of our history we needed something to measure and make sense of time since it's an invisible abstract dimension, so we used cycles as measure sticks (eg the sun in the sky) . We still use cycles to measure time but now on an atomic level. So I think in order to maintain a sane frame of mind when we live here in our physical world we have adopted a system that our mind could understand. I am very happy to see that the time on my clock moves forward and what has happened before the present moment belongs to the past and cannot be relived. Otherwise I would quickly go insane :-)

Boson

Stevo 30-10-2013 02:16 AM

Agreed Boson the brain needs time to function in a linear fashion but that doesn't stop all timelines existing simultaneously.

Boson 30-10-2013 02:21 AM

Stevo,

Sounds good to me what you just wrote. I tend to believe that too. I have noticed that believing in a mystery is a challenge at times. Yet, mysteries is what makes life interesting.

Boson

Stevo 30-10-2013 02:23 AM

Imagine a film strip cut into all its frames, imagine each simultaneously existing frame is a still parallel reality and there is a light that shines through one frame at a time in an order. Reality is similar, all times exist now just like the film frames and the brain focuses on one parallel reality after the next giving the illusion of movement and time.

wstein 30-10-2013 06:06 AM

Absolutely.

The only reason people think they incarnate in 'time' order is that they search for past lives by going back in time (in a more or less linear way). They then arrange the lives according to their dates in history, not the order of incarnation.

And as someone mentioned above, the over-soul is timeless and is fully capable of multiple simultaneous incarnations.

Stevo 30-10-2013 07:17 AM

Yeah Wstein, I think the oversoul/higher self etc splits its awareness into many 'times' at the same 'time'.

Starr 31-10-2013 05:32 AM

Then why do people remember past lives? Why not remember future lives just as easily?

A darn good question.

As my 'other' incarnations are typically not in the same universe as each other, I can't answer that. I do know that I am equally able access more and less 'advanced' lifeforms that I have incarnated as. 'Advanced' being measured in all ways that I can think of.

The only clue I have is that people typically get into looking at other incarnations of self as a way to explain why their life is as it is. They perceive that stuff from 'before' is influencing their life now. As such they go 'back' to see what it might be.

OK, all you frequent flyers, try going forward next time and report back to us ... see what you are doing now that your future self has to deal with.

hannah 03-11-2013 04:52 PM

You might be able to go back and re-experience a life in the past, but would you realise that was what you were doing? You may be doing that right now and not realise it, until you one day 'wake up' and find yourself back in the future again

I would guess it lies in the theory that the future is not set in stone. So a future life is not fully written and would only be a possibility. Making it harder to see. However, I do believe there are some that have glimpsed future lives.. But, can that really be said one is viewing a future life and not just an alternative life in a parallel universe? However are they glimpsing a future life, or just the future of their current life. Where things are happening based on how they are living in the current moment.

I would say that past lives are easier to access for some, if they are indeed accessing them, because they have already happened. And as such they exist on some level within the consciousness of the individual. Much in the same way that we can access memories of times of the past within our current life.

Autumn Ascent 14-12-2013 12:52 AM

I think you can if all time is happening at once. it actually makes more sense to me for it to be possible instead of impossible. I mean then there is talk of parallel realities so where does that fit in? I think there are just an infinite number of different dimensions/realities and we can just pick and choose what kind of experiences we want. that's what I think. people say "From my understanding", or "From what I've read". guess what? anyone could write a book and say anything they want in it. doesn't mean it's true. and truthfully no one will really know for sure until they die I suppose. doesn't mean i'm right about what I think either.

Parallel realities are all the same incarnation. Essentially, playing out all the possibilities given the same starting point. Its the same lifetime. A kind of shotgun approach to experience all the angles at the same 'time'.

With parallel realities, we don't get to pick and choose, we make all the choices each leading to a different branch in the parallel reality.

:D "Be careful what you wish for", people sometimes gets it but not quite in a way that they had in mind.

But seriously, I think what makes more sense in reincarnation is simply looking back at your former life
because it would have already happened if the reincarnation you are talking about is set in the past.
And some people who already have the active gift, may also see some of the future and future life through what some of us call as Akashic records.
It's just a matter of finding your Higher Self.

If interested, have a look at the 1-2 paragraph of http://www.earthscape.net/soul_oversoul.htm

Sweetlady 16-12-2013 05:03 AM

Absolutely not! :)

Tabby94 21-12-2013 03:00 PM

As the Earth plane is purposely operated by a linear time structure, you can't reincarnate into the past. You will be aware of your past lives once in spirit world though.

Shade 21-12-2013 05:01 PM

The other planes (that I know of) are timeless. They are past, present and future all in one. So I *suppose* you could be reincarnated into the past....I've had people in the 17th century with records dating toward the 22nd century despite their being in the 17th. *shrug*

lemex 21-12-2013 06:18 PM

I agree people don't reincarnate in the past.

If we don't mean alternate universes the past mentioned would be my timeline. Changes to it changes mine and me. Cause and effect apply. Interestingly if the past were changed in some significant manner my present would be caught in the change and not know it happened. Imagine the scenario. The present you are in now is different and you don't know and never will.

There is a theory time really doesn't move, you do. Time therefore is not even linear. You are. The theory is the past is as real as the future. The present is really all there is. This is a form of reality. Time has always suggested it is based on relative motion and motion sets what time is to us. Time is relative and can be viewed. Theory tells us if there were no motion everything would be time and if all energy were time there would be no motion. I feel the rules of science apply here to.

I would hate to think new futures happened in my time line. Maybe that's why we remember past lives. I would consider this to be chaos not order but be a way to achieve a hands off approach to life.

Innerlight--

I agree with how you describe this--which brings me to the belief that our so-called fixed "past" IS constantly being changed. We just think it has always been. Likewise, what we learn as individuals becomes part of the shared consciousness, so to a certain extent, what some learn is available to all. It's a hard concept to get from where we are, but it makes sense to me.

Lora

P.S. Was just thinking about the idea that what we learn is learned by all to some extent. Haven't you ever thought about something that you know that would be wisdom for someone else--but you never communicate that idea, never have the ability to communicate it? And then suddenly that person comes up with the idea themselves? I've had it happen often--just recently. It's almost like the ideas are there to be absorbed. Those who are in a place to be receptive, "get" the ideas as if from nowhere.

Actually there are several books written on future life progression.

linen53 21-12-2013 08:38 PM

It is my understanding according to quantum physics that all time runs concurrently. So, in my opinion, yes you can choose any time period to reincarnate.

Shade 21-12-2013 08:41 PM

But just as the future isn't certain, doesn't that mean that the past is constantly changing to influence said future?
And isn't the present just a moment later the past?
So what does that make us?

I'm not trying to change anyone's decision; just my POV. *shrug*

Chalk1990 22-12-2013 12:40 PM

Time does not exist, Time is a belief that is programmed into our brain.

There is no perception of Time on the higher planes because we don't have our Human brains to tell us that our perception of time is a reality.

Our entire existence in this vision of life is actually a holographic fabrication, it's a heavenly virtual reality game. We are still in Heaven, we just feel like we're separated.

The reason we cannot think backwards before our birth is because there is a mental blockade in place, this is so we can focus on what is ahead. Have you tried consciously thinking before our birth into this body? You cant. It's blocked by a Divine Firewall. We are so limited in this body.

Neville 22-12-2013 01:36 PM

Did you ever have a dream that found you in a period of time that you might call the future?
Did you ever have a dream that found you in a period of time that you would call history?

If your awareness can occupy both past present ,and future; If your subconsiousness can go forwards and backwards in what we call time and space, surely then, it is not too much of a leap to consider that consciousness via reincarnation can do the same.

It is a Novel idea in some circles, However as well as Past Life Regression Hypnosis there is Future Life Progression hypnosis an apparently simple and easy process that allows you to get insights into the future.

You can apparently access your future lives, often going hundreds of years into the future to gain all kinds of insights and learn from the experiences you have then. You can get an overview into the way the world is changing and the people in it.

This seems to indicate that there are lives you have lived in what you now would call the future.

Interesting stuff.

CIRRUS 09-01-2014 09:21 PM

The incarnating soul is always in the future. It is not possible to incarnate into the past. This is Divine law.
As others have said you can find out who you were in a previous life but this is not recommended as you may not like what you discover.

Cirrus--

How do you put this together with the idea that there is no "future" (or only in 3D)? From higher side, there is no distinction--it is all Now. So, wouldn't it then be possible?
