I once had a friend tell me that I wear my heart on my sleeve, thoughtfully under armor. I will spread love, joy, reason, and all of the enlightenment I have felt in my recent past, from this day forward. I will try to help those in need to the best of my abilities, whenever they are in need.

"Friends" has become a dubious term to me, these days usually meaning someone not hostile (to your front anyway, what happens behind your back might be different). To me, real friends give loyalty and sincerity to each other above all. That's what your quote from Ghandi is about: sincerity.
