I've been divining, for over a year, with regular playing cards. I visit a site that has the meanings of the cards, but I'm also looking for other sources to confirm. I know this form of divination isn't as common as tarot, but my mom already thinks I'm into some weird stuff and buying a tarot deck would REALLY concern her.

today in particular I'm a little on edge, cuz my deck has given me the 7 of hearts and the 10 of spades over and over.

Anyway, anyone else use just regular cartomancy? Any tips for better readings?

Yeah, spades are rough. But they're supposed to be. I mean, if we were just given good news all the time, we wouldn't be prepared for the bad stuff!!
(my deck seems to really hate one of my new friends though. I trust my deck, but the friend seems fine. So I'm just hanging back a little. Tentatively accepting invitations. being careful.)
