What Core Human Values Can We All Agree On?

The United Nations is a leader in coming up with basic human rights guidelines that all can agree with (but few governments put into practice). Can we come up with a list of core human values or principles or basic ethics that we can all agree on?

I'll start the list:

Compassion - love thy neighbour:angel8:

Empathy could be one.

Basically just "Do onto others as you would like them to do onto you."

"Do onto others as you would do onto yourself."

Respect, consideration, understanding.

I'm betting on "no". Not without being so vague and general that we aren't saying anything of substance.

Can we all agree that every human being deserves basic survival needs met such as food and shelter, clothing and some means to survive? Is this not "substance"?

No, as it turns out, we can't agree on that if you are saying that government must tax people to provide those goods.

Sure, I would like everyone to have those goods, and I wouldn't want a government to prevent people from earning and keeping those goods, but I'm not going to encode this wish in some system of political rights in which they "deserve" to have the government force others to pay for those goods.
