A sophisticated observation.
 

Today I noticed something interesting. I was taking a bath and as I applied shampoo on my head, I got lost in thoughts. I was thinking of some past events and I was totally engrossed in those thoughts.
Generally, when I take a bath, what I usually do is that as soon as I apply shampoo over my head, I would immediately wash it. However, I had decided to leave it there for a while so it can have a proper effect on my hairs.
Now, what happened is that as I was mentally absent, my body washed the head on its own automatically. It washed my head immediately after I had applied the shampoo in accordance to my past usual practice. I only became aware and returned from my thoughts, when my hairs were all washed. I was quite disappointed because I wanted to leave the shampoo on for a while.
The sophisticated observation that I have drawn from this little incident is that it is possible for a person to leave his body spiritually and go somewhere else, while the body will continue to operate according to the habits that have been formed due to repetition. The body will eat, drink, walk and talk like we normally do, but there will be no soul or any such thing in the body and it will operate just like an automatic machine. For now, this is just a hypothesis. It is quite a valuable hypothesis, me thought, so I share it with you.

This happens in many, many situations. People experience coming out of their trance and having completed their drive home, or some other task that they were working on, like dishes or a work task. It is interesting how we have a presence even when we're somewhere else.
