I saw this documentary once... I don't remember which one though... maybe The Secret Life of Plants? Anyway... theres a group in Russia who for YEARS has been working on domesticating the fox. Some of the foxes come up as gentle as kittens while others are still wild or "feral" and cannot be safely handled. It was AMAZING to see the foxes cuddling and being so gentle with the humans....

Oh, I love it,Quills! Fantastic vid. *squeal* He's beautiful

That's amazing. I definitely don't want a pet fox in my house - as you mentioned some foxes tend to be wild or "feral". I recently came across a YouTube channel I really enjoy and saw this video she made on what to expect if one were to have a fox as a pet. If you're interested, here's the link: Fox as a Pet?

I found the group that domesticated them!

And here is the scientists info as well

I will have to watch that youtube link later :( - the computer I'm on doesn't allow youtube. Excited to see though :)

I dream about foxes and feel a connection to them above all other animals. I love Clover's profile pic.

Thank you, and wow, that's awesome, Vector. You'll probably like the blown up version, which I unfortunately cut up. I'll have to buy the print when I get the chance.

Foxes more remind me of my grandmother, who was a very spiritual and special woman, she had her Fox stories. She is the only family member that is remains consistent in appearing in my dreams.

Arcturus 27-04-2016 04:02 PM

Thanks for the share Clover:) I hope you get the print. Your Grandmother sounds very interesting and I would have loved to have heard one of her fox stories. Here is the fox pic I have in my bedroom which is where I am now. I love the intensity of it. It seems to be watching prey. I'll link as the pic took up 2 page widths http://www.hotel-r.net/im/hotel/fr/red-fox-18.jpg

There are red foxes where I live Clover. I saw one only a few hours ago just before it started to go dark. He/she? stopped to stare at me. I stood very still, and just that moment realised I had blundered into the fox's hunting-grounds. There were many rabbits about among the trees of the orchard.
I stopped in my tracks and silently apologised, but it was too late. The rabbits scattered, and the fox disappeared among trees which lead to the stream.

No more scaring the Foxes away, hah. That's pretty cool you have encounters with them. We didn't have Foxes where I was from, since I moved to Florida recently I can actually hear them outside my window around around 4-5 am. I love it, so meant to be  I am going to have to leave them scraps more often.

Roll call!

This video made me smile. Just look at that "love bite" he was giving the hand, his expression was so content and affectionate!

p.s. I haven't updated this thread in 4 years. Our dear friend, Lepus always had nature and animal threads.

Hello

I'm surprised the video has so many views with so little comments. Cute fox though.

Unrelated topic. So we just entered into Mars Retrograde. I wonder how would that affect all signs.

Hello

So today I went to the general dollar store with prices ranging to one dollar to five dollars. I went to check out the seasonal aisle section because I like buying Halloween decor. I did notice the Fall section near the Halloween category. The one thing that stood out was the fox coffee mug which reminded me of this thread and you Clover. What's the deal with the fox and the Fall season? I think it's the color orange that ties in with the Fall season. Anyway, I can't wait for Autumn!

Aww, I love Foxes. Yes, foxes are a fall theme in almost every retail outlet during autumn promotions. Must be the orange color. Its been like that for almost 10 years. Edibles too. I remember posting fall fox cupcakes somewhere around here way back in the day.

HEY, guess who got a Fox mask for Halloween this year? Its a lot nicer in person, the gems around the eyes are bling Lol. I was a feminine buck last year ( LOL, antlers had flowers) Thought id bring it back old school and represent my favorite animal. Those are my twins, btw. They're nice ;)

Lepus 17-09-2020 11:19 PM

Hi Clover

How are you?

Yes I just noticed that most retail stores have them on display. Oh I remember the fox cupcakes. I think you had them on the good morning thread if I'm not mistaken.

I like the twin dolls kinda reminds me of Trick r' Treat Sam. The fox mask is nice though. So Halloween hasn't been cancelled in your area? I think many will go ahead and continue celebrating Halloween since it does fall on a Saturday. And many will find it appropriate to ditch the mask so I think they will go Trick-or-Treating regardless of restrictions. But who knows.

I'll be doing a Halloween ritual to honor my ancestors and my spirit guides whom are always near me.

Alright take care, Clover.

I heard a newscast on NPR several years ago about foxes. There was this group that was studying them and if I remember correctly, they were working on identifying the gene that was responsible for the behavior that allowed for them to become trusting and want to be around humans aka domesticated. And they discovered that certain physical traits that could be seen came with this gene. Like how the ears looked, for instance. I found an article that talks about it.

I am fortunate to live in an older very tree-lined neighborhood in the city that has lots of wildlife. I actually saw a glimpse of a fox once driving home through the neighborhood. So cool. We also have coyotes, I've not seen them personally but neighbors have caught them on remote cameras in their yard and one reported seeing one when she was walking her dog. It had a cat in its mouth. Very scary. My cats don't go outside anymore. I would love to build a nice big screened-in catio for them so they could enjoy being outside safely.
