The purpose of incarnation is not lessons so much as it is growth. Even a short incarnation provides opportunity for growth whether it is long enough for conscious learning or not. Souls don't see death the way we do. It's just a doorway. They are on to the next thing so they don't worry about missing a few things they could have done here if they had lived longer. They can probably do the same things next time around anyway.
My mother had a late term miscarriage before having me. I did a pre birth regression to my own experiences in the womb a while ago and I was surprised to find the energy of that previous child was very evident to me and must of influenced me quite a bit. I was able to call up that soul. It was like meeting the sister I never had. She was not bothered by the way that life had ended early. She considered it to be a blessing to be there at all. |

That is the purpose just to have that experience, it's a powerful one that I'm sure the higher self takes into account |
It is the karmic result of both the parent and the baby for miscarriage and stillborn.
As for abortions, it does not have any karma effect with the baby but the parents. |
I've wondered the same as well. I lost my daughter's twin at 7 weeks gestation. I saw her on the ultrasound as a little dot next to my daughter. I was told that I wasn't ready for twins because my body couldn't handle it. She continues to grow at the same rate as my daughter in the spiritual plane. She has a new family, goes to school, has busy activities and looks like my daughter except she likes to have shorter hair and dresses different with different interests. My consolation is that she visits often and converses with my daughter.

Dear All
Looking above comments some are very close to the reality but others are far away from it… We must always keep in mind the reincarnation! In the Books of the Spirits: Questions 197 to 199 elucidate this subject "fate of children after death". Regarding the "Union of Soul and Body" we have following questions in the same book: 344 to 360 www.ssbaltimore.org/PDF/Spirits.pdf Good study! |
Well this is what I have learnt. In Buddhism those who die young or those who die even before they are born have done past karma related to taking the life of others/intentional killing. That is why Buddhists have "abstain from harming or taking the life of others (humans and non humans)" as the first percept in their 5 percepts. Those who intentionally harm the lives of others or intentionally encourage another person to harm the lives of others will be born with a shorter life span. Hence ,whether they have completed the purpose here or not their life will be taken same as they did in the past lives for others. Those who suffer due to diseases have caused physical harm to living beings. Those who suffer from mental agonies have given psychological/emotional pain to others. It is only our own actions in the past which bring challenges to us. You reap what yo sow. In the case of miscarriages it is the karma of the child and that of the parents. It sometimes be because the child simply doesn't belong to that family but somewhere else.

No karmic debt exist, why spread fear with this myth

Read a wonderful book many years ago, that I highly recommend to everyone interested in this topic, or just on random. It is called The nine steps: A story of birth and rebirth, and I really loved it! The book follows a new soul preparing to be incarnated in a baby of a pregnant woman, and describes the whole process. Nine steps as in nine months. There is a whole lot of info in this book, as well as about the topic you are talking here. Like some already said, even an experience as spontaneous abortion, or dying after birth or perhaps in early age, is something the soul knows about in advance and decided to experience. Maybe for its own benefit, or to help the parents. In such cases soul stays with the family, and is born again in a new body to the same mother if it is possible. When I read this part in the book, it really answered something puzzling I was struggling to understand as a child. Not sure why, but as a young boy, probably about age 6 to 8 I was wondering about, what would happen if I was not born. Just hypothetically I was trying to understand, how it works, and if by any chance when it was time for me, I would not come to be born, then, who would the next baby be? I though about it long and hard and always came to conclusion, that it would still be me, no other way possible. Found it very funny, because it was something really strange to decide upon, but I never knew why, until I read that book =) I strongly recommend it again to everyone!
