GOING THRU THE MOTIONS

Going thru the motions
As if I’m really here
Feelings and emotions
Scattered and so distant
Reality isn’t clear

Nothing is for certain
This I know for sure
Memories of yesterday
Suddenly disappear
Everything is a blur

Whispers in the night
Shadows on the wall
Feeling someone following me
As I walk slowly down the hall

And when I turn to look and see
I see no one there at all
Was this really just my imagination
Setting me up for a fall ?

Falling into nothingness
Drifting off to sleep
I can see the curtains parting
Offering a view to the Other Side

Shall I accept the invitation ?
Shall I stay here and wonder how ?
Should I linger with the memories
Or should I be present in the here and now ?

Going thru the motions
