I know there are books out there, and various discussions about how mucous is a negative and harmful situation in the body. That bad bacteria, microbes, or germs flourish in mucous.
Close family friends had advocated a low mucous diet.

Some time ago also, I recall reading a book by an author, published in the 1930's or 40's about how in utilizing a vegetarian and low mucous diet, he would literally glow at night as he ran a woodland path, illuminating the leaves and branches which he passed.
You will find extreme statements in almost everything, but, what do you think about this issue?

Isn't it true that the good bacteria and germs need mucous in order to be affective? That a low mucous situation may inhibit good microbes from doing their job, involving the immune system?

You will always produce enough mucus, unless you are extremely dehydrated. The issue is with excess, and thick stuff. That's the junk.

Think about your sinuses. They always have a thin lining of mucus, and you can tell because of when you get ill. If you have an excess, you get a runny nose. If there's thick stuff, you are congested. But if you are just getting over the illness, you will sometimes feel as though you can feel the air itself going up through the sinuses and swirl around. You feel as though if you take a deep breath, you could dry them out, and it's very cold. Your body has decreased the mucus production because the germ is gone, but the excess was still there. Once the congestion is gone, you feel extra dry because the production has not gone back to normal yet. Normal is mucus! Just a little, but it's there and necessary.

Right.

So, though, the excessive mucous produced when fighting off germs is necessary.
