View Full Version : Seeking Authentic Monastery/Temple in US

I am seeking a authentic temple or monastery in America that has true teachers, is surrounded by nature, preferably does not have electronics/cars or other unnatural/consciousness diminishing practices. A work/study program is a must and hopefully does not offer pricey retreats to westerners (as this would detract from its legitimacy). I am having no luck searching for such a place on my own and I just wish to get away from all the distractions/pollution of modern day life and to focus solely on my spiritualism/healing. If anyone has any idea, a friend who may know of such a place, or anything that can point me remotely in the correct direction it would be much appreciated. It does not have to pertain directly to a particular way of life as I do not consider myself a Taoist, Buddhist, etc. but more of a Universalist who incorporates and follows many of these ways of life naturally. I thank all who read this.

Thanks! The kids got their visas so I may be in Alaska for some time but it would be nice to get away once in a while.
