EFT- EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUES - MERIDIAN TAPPPING

"EFT often works where nothing else has.” - Gary Craig, EFT Founder

Emotional Freedom Techniques - EFT - also called Meridian Therapies or Meridian Tapping - is an amazingly effective healing method, with clinical proof that it can eliminate negative emotions and beliefs and self-judgment, physical and emotional pain, bad habits, past trauma and abuse, anxiety, fears and phobias, migraines, and often even helps to heal physical injuries and illnesses.

EFT uses healing affirmations along with specific acupressure points to release unwanted patterns from the mind and body.

EFT may be used to treat any difficulty, pain, negative pattern, conflict, block, painful memory, health problem, or relationship issue… or to remove obstacles in achieving personal, performance, or spiritual goals.

For successful EFT we need look into every specific feeling, belief and memory about each issue. You may begin with the most obvious feeling or symptom, then work through all the various aspects.

Sometimes pain, headaches or surface emotions can be cleared very quickly and EFT is known for its One Minute Miracles. But these tend to be rare and if the first few tapping rounds don’t seem to be working it’s important go for more… with persistence and exploration.

To get the most from EFT one needs to explore each issue thoroughly, with an intuitive and creative attitude.

This method is easy to learn and easy to use for oneself, and there are many trained practitioners around the world who often work effectively even over the phone.

It’s important to learn to do EFT correctly from studying a book or watching a full length video or from an experienced person, rather than from a little YouTube blog.

An excellent book is, “Discover the Power of Meridian Tapping“ by Patricia Carrington, and there are many others.

Children like EFT because it helps them feel better fast, and it even works for infants and animals using yourself as surrogate. This often convinces skeptics since there can be no placebo effect with them.

Although EFT may sound too good to be true, literally millions of people around the world now attest that in their own personal and professional experience it is… true.

Perhaps you can help me ... I don't quite understand the process after the setup statement. I've read and seen some videos where the instructor states multiple statements when doing the tapping sequence. Maybe you can help me come up with some statements, and tell me WHERE on the tapping sequence I'd say them.

My cat Max, was jumped on by Bounder about 3 1/2 years ago when Bounder came home very late one night. I think it was a case of misplaced aggression and Max was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Max is now afraid of Bounder and since my husband woke him up from a deep sleep to pet him in the basket in our bedroom, he will no longer come into our bedroom. Up until that point, Max would come in even if Bounder was asleep on the bed. Up until this summer, Max was quite agoraphobic. But when I was out in the back yard, I made it a point to take him with me. Eventually, he began to ask to go out in the backyard but would become quite frantic if we didn't leave the door open.

He also has stopped using the catboxes in the two bathrooms (where they've always have been) and was peeing in the kitchen on a dish towel or other inappropriate places. I took a urine sample in and it was free of crystals and bacteria. I finally put a litter box in our livingroom (I don't like this and would like to end this soon) and Max happily uses that box as do the other 3 cats (sigh!!).

Max will hiss at Bounder when he looks at him or looks like he's going to walk toward him. This doesn't happen at meal time or in the morning when I get out of bed and all 4 cats are milling around outside my bedroom. Bounder has swatted at Max and jumped on him a few times in the last 3 years. Recently, I've begun taking Bounder and putting him in time out in a cat crate when it happens. Our dog Willow will run to Max when he hears hissing. She puts herself between Max and Bounder like a body guard. Max is going on 12 years old and I would like to reverse this fear and get him to stand up to Bounder like he used to. Bounder has always played rough, even as a kitten. Salem and Max eventually refused to play with him at all. When Patches finally came along he finally had a playmate. She'll play as rough and dirty as he does and adores him to boot.

I've done reiki on Max as well as dose him with Rescue Remedy but it hasn't addressed the trauma or removed it. I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on Max.

iolite... I don't have time to give you a full answer right now about Max.

However, I strongly suggest you learn more about EFT by reading a good book on it, such as the one I mentioned by Dr. Carrington.

Results can be almost instantaneous but much depends on the proper setup, the phrases which are used and on the complexity of the problem.

In some cases people may even feel worse. Tapping may trigger what is called 'aspects'. They are issues which are related to the problem but are not immediately seen as a primary problem, but they have to be tapped on in turn.

Example: Tapping on a money issue, sales not being what one wishes them to be.
Aspects of this may be insufficient product knowledge, or lack of people skills, or insufficient confidence, or an aversion to selling, etc. Tapping on the 'primary' issue will not be effective until all the aspects are resolved. However, skillful tapping on the money problem should bring up the various aspects fairly quickly and then they can be dealt with.

This is not correct. Anybody can use the TFT techniques although it is more complex than EFT.
The British Thought Field Therapy Association can anything they want, I see no link or claim that they are a statutory body with enforcement rights.

All 'health care' practitioner who works with energy psychology should also think many times before wanting to have their particular discipline recognized. Once the regulatory agencies, accredited training schools and companies get their fingers on it we can say goodbye to 2 things, the average person being allowed to practice it for remuneration, and accessibility for those who are not very, very wealthy.

If you wish to practice the Callahan technique, you have to go through approved training.
Also, there are several complementary practices now available within the NHS, such as Acupuncture, Chiropractice, etc and you can bet your boots that they ARE regulated and that includes national standards of training. If you want to get Professional Practice Insurances and Local Authority Approval, you also need approved training and membership of the particular professional body. It's the only way to keep out the cowboys who do weekend courses. My ex has a very successful practice within the NHS and I know the hoops and the training programmes she undertook [ including TFT]

Acupuncture and chiropractice are both body invasive therapies in a physical sense. That is a different kettle of fish to purely energetic based practices which are largely self-administered.

Fair point. The problem always arises if a patient is being charged a fee, then all the regulations do come in. If you dont have the Liability Insurances and Approvals, it's like driving a car without insurance.

pre-dawn and norseman...

You're right that this is not a regulation but was the original intention of Dr. Callahan who developed TFT.

Gary Craig provided the world with EFT - a more 'user-friendly' form - which has spread to millions of users and practitioners around the world, and has spurred the further development of other energy psychology methods. I venture to guess that through EFT's popularity it has also lead more therapists to learn the more formal method of TFT than would have otherwise.

As for the fees and licensing issue, this is for each individual to work out acording to their own state regulations... not a consideration for EFT or TFT per se. Most people learn it to use for themselves, their family members and friends... with great benefits and gratitude.

White Wolf... I'm so glad to hear you tried it... and found it really does work.

Little round bruises means you're tapping too hard.

The effect is not in physical force but moderate energetic stimulation of the acupoints. In fact, some people prefer to massage the points in a circular motion, with moderate pressure. I most often use the touch-and-breathe method... holding my fingertip on each point with a deep breath, with the same releasing benefits.

How long is it supposed to take before a person gets results?

This depends very much on the complexity of the issue, Wolf. Simple problems such as a headache or physical habit may disappear quickly, whereas issues with more emotional components and painful memories may take longer.

However, a key for effectiveness with EFT and other energy psychology methods is to get to the core emotions and events from the past and release those. This may come fairly easily from intuition, or may take some detective work and going down through the layers.

It's important to let go of expectations about how long it will take, and simply get to work on an issue and keep going - every day if necessary - until it is gone.

Yes, you can learn the tapping points from an online blog... however, there's much more to using EFT effectively than merely knowing the tapping ponits. I repeat from my original article:

On mercola.com, in the images at the bottom, he starts off with the head and finishes with the 'inside of the wrist'. Tapping solution.com starts with the wrist and finishes with the head!

Also, when are you supposed to use the positive affirmations? Tapping solution.com- the lady says one at the start and then 'vents' negative statements about her back. But mercola.com says your meant to use positive affirmations and doesnt even mention 'venting' about the problem. Confused :(

hdizzy... This is why I suggest reading a whole book to learn EFT as questions like these get answered, and you can learn how to be truly successful with it.

But to answer your questions briefly...

There is a lot of variation in how EFT is used, intuitively and creatively - once you've learned the basic method and how to investigate an issue and all its aspects thoroughly... and the order of the points doesn't really matter.

Venting is not usually a part of EFT although some people like it, but simply using a brief descriptive phrase activates the pattern enough to be released in the mind and energy system. The Movie Technique and Tell The Story which are very effective ways to release memories of how an emotional pattern began with EFT.

Using positive affirmation comes in the first part when you say, "Even though I feel ______ I deeply love and accept myself."

And... after you've cleared an emotional pattern or memory of an event you may wish to go through the acupoint sequence while affirming whatever you want to go ahead into, appropriate to the emotions or problem you are releasing... such as, "I love feeling confident and at ease" or "I choose to feel safe within myself."

What is often seen as a negative statement is the acknowledgment of the troubling condition. This is the starting point, we cannot resolve issues unless we acknowledge them.
There can also be a lot of 'play' around this which serves to explore other aspects around the issue, but also to realize the full depth of the feelings around it, e.g. are you upset, angry or enraged? Social conditioning tends to suppress awareness of how deep feelings can go.

At the same time this 'negative' acknowledgment has a positive kernel. It lets one discover things about oneself and it implies that there is an intention to resolve it. Why else would one do EFT?

One could say that the seemingly negative is in fact positive.

On Tuesday's show, psychologist Dr. Garland Landrith (http://www.spiritualforums.com/vb/redir.php?link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dat-e-baseonline.com%2Ffront%2Fa.asp%3Farg%3D8F7D995F927 E7E6562707781628B73798C6C7273847F74), whose research was cited in the movie What the Bleep, discussed how inner thoughts can alter the physical realm through various methods including mass consciousness experiments, prayer, and "tapping" techniques. Various studies have demonstrated the quantum effects of consciousness, indicating that the mind can go beyond the time/space limitations that the normal universe operates under. For instance, he reported on an experiment in which people were randomly shown pleasant and negative photos. It was found that the subjects experienced anxiety several seconds in advance of seeing a negative photograph, which suggests the body senses things ahead of time, he said.

People are often held back by psychological blocks-- brain patterns that cause them to make the same mistakes over and over again, he noted. Through an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) that involves a person using their fingers to tap on various acupuncture points, these blocks can be removed, he stated. Further, he cited the recent Dallas Peace Project (http://www.spiritualforums.com/vb/redir.php?link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dat-e-baseonline.com%2Ffront%2Fa.asp%3Farg%3D8F7D995F927 E7E6562707781628B73798C6C7273847F75), in which 1,000 people tapped on acupuncture points, and crime rates reportedly went down 25% in the region. Landrith's tapping technique is demonstrated in this video clip (http://www.spiritualforums.com/vb/redir.php?link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dat-e-baseonline.com%2Ffront%2Fa.asp%3Farg%3D8F7D995F927 E7E6562707781628B73798C6C7273847F76) promoting his DVD.

He also spoke about various prayer studies and techniques. Some particularly powerful methods include "releasing" an intention rather than focusing on it, posing an intention before going to sleep, and sending out feelings of love. By adopting a sense of gratitude-- being thankful for what you have, you'll be attracting more things to be grateful for than if you are in a state of wanting, which attracts lack, Landrith revealed.

I wonder what is the concept behind EFT, why does it work?
My understanding is that it's pressure points. Acupuncture would have the same effect if you put the pins in the point we tap. Negative emotions cause blocked energy so by tapping the points it makes the energy flow thus coming to terms with the emotion and releasing them. Don't quote me on that though, I'm not an expert, yet

I wonder what is the concept behind EFT, why does it work?

The basis of EFT is the understanding that our mind's thoughts and emotions are interrelated with our energy system - the meridians that acupuncture treats. By bringing a negative mind pattern together with acceptance and love (with a key phrase that expresses it) along with specific acupressure points they are released and cleared.

But as Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, said, "I can't really explain exactly how it works. We only know it does work... often where nothing else will."

The proof of EFT comes in learning how to use it correctly, and then doing it.

In the video Jack explains how he has used EFT in his own life
and how profoundly it has impacted him.
This video is one of a series of videos being released leading up
to the 2011 Tapping World Summit.
This is a huge online event that happens once a year that is not only
the biggest yearly event in the EFT community but also one of the
biggest and most popular events that happens in the entire
personal development world.
Over 100,000 people attended this event online in 2010 and over
81,000 people attended in 2009. This year... they're expecting
over 200,000 people!
This is definitely not a regular event. Its 100% content and... it's free.
It starts on the 21st of February so in the meantime, I suggest watching
this inspiring video with Jack Canfield to check it out. :)

But, as always, thanks for your repsonse and input.First off, thanks for the laugh - it's not often someone is so blunt- and especially to a distinquished and loved member as Xan.
That was honest and lots of fun for me.

Now, I would like to ask - if I may - with all due respect..
When you say -"in my experience" - what was your experience with?
Did you do any TFT, now called EFT, I guess...sorry.

One time when I was so immature, easily angered, triggered from childhood core issues at any moment out
of nowhere - God, I was a terrible person to be around!!!
Compulsive, control freak - short fused- filled with "shoulds", impatient and
irritable, no coping skills----I arrived at a friend's house - a therapist, LCSW ----and I told her how this
beeeatch just turned right in front of me yada, yada.... she wanted to experiment with a TFT /EFT technique ---well, I'll be darned, within a
few minutes my blood pressure decreased and if I reenacted the scene in my head - it illicited a zero to one emotional response from a previous ten.

I was mell--ow.

I was a believer from then on.

Oh, also, a massage client in a severe car accident - panicked driving between 2 trucks on the highway - she tapped points
somewhere on her hand and maybe chest and she said - "It was amazing my panic went away!". Her MD told her to try it.
That was maybe in the mid 90s.

seeker.... I understand your cynicism from the experience of frustration you described in another thread, about not being able to make changes in your life.

However, EFT is not about someone writing a book just to make money. There are over a million people in the world now using EFT for themselves and others to release their doubts, fears, negative conditioning, past traumas and even physical problems... and go ahead in a new way.

And there are many books, blogs, videos and other learning materials available because those of us who have found this method so helpful and simple to use want to share it with others.

It's not wise to dismiss something that has real evidence of effectiveness and could very well help you, without even giving it a further look. Exploring the archives of this website is educational and inspiring. There's a free download manual for learning how to use it through the link, "Get Started Free".

hi! :)

just bumping this too, but while I am in here, I'm gonna ask, do you think I'm procrastinating unnecessarily or do you agree with me that I can't really heal myself as deeply as I need to until I heal what I can of my physical body?

I am gonna have a tooth pulled asap (tho it will be like 3 weeks yet) and there are a couple other teeth that will need to be tended to.
I started rereading this Instant Emotional Healing book again but I almost always rather read something else.. well in any event it is getting closer to the time where I would start trying to save my entire being by employing eft so I think I will ask for some more concise advice.

I am interested to know what you think ^^ but I also better ask for other advice. 0o0ohh I would love to know what method you use.. like which places you tap and what you say, etc.. if you have time to share.
but I wanted to know how you'd advise going about deep cleaning. the anxiety and ocd are ingrained pretty deeply in me and whatever else it is that is bogging me down.. it's pretty severe.. so I am gonna aim to clear and heal a Lot of things.. I am not going to list it all now but I could if you want to see lol..
I was going to do like a timeline method, where I start tapping from my earliest ill memory or conception of a memory (that'd be what you call stuff you don't really remember but that people told you/reminded you of right?) so I'd be going through the years.. what do you think about that?
ah I guess I have a youtube video about the concept but didn't watch the whole thing.. but I want to know some things that you know anyways!!

Xan

Sapphirez... EFT has been found to heal physical issues along with emotional ones... since they tend to be interrelated. In fact you can even focus on the physical symptoms using the EFT format

I suggest you start by treating with EFT your resistance to reading about and doing it. You could use statements like, "Even though I would rather read something else, I deeply love and accept myself" with the acupoint sequence... as long as it takes for this stuckness to let go. "Even though I feel ____ about using EFT........"

It may be you need a practitioner to help you get going with it and to go deeper... people often do. Many trained EFTers work effectively over the phone. There's a list of certified practitioners at: http://EFTuniverse.com and some advertise on health store bulletin boards and news letters.

I would not suggest doing a timeline until until your troubling problems are cleared, but think of an issue you have now and ask your subconscious mind --- When or how did this begin? or a similar question. Then notice whatever memories come up even if they don't seem relevant... and use the Movie Technique for them.

You Tube videos just give a glimpse of the real healing potential of EFT. They can be helpful but for significant issues we do have to learn more.

Let me know how it goes.

well my main physical issue is the tooth that is beyond repair so I can't really heal it with EFT as you said months ago when I posted my interest of EFT in your other thread..

I can't really get a practitioner though I really would like to as that would be so much easier.. but I am getting unemployment and after paying my mom rent money I just have $88 a week so that doesn't get me very far..

but I also think I should put some valiant effort into it myself before enlisting someone else to do it for me anyways..

So I wasn't planning on doing the EFT until after the tooth thing, but one day a couple months ago I tapped about how I didn't want to do it yet.. and sure enough I started tapping about a ton of other things right after that!

*sigh* anyhow.. My problems are pretty severe.. the ocd is not good but the anxiety is my main trouble and it's crippling.. I'm afraid to talk to my own family and friends even and can't tell you how many social situations I've ducked out of though it pains me to be missing out on life.. I suppose it's a big weaving of issues and is not that clear cut so I can't explain it all right here or I'd be here all day.. but I have a disgusting amount of negativity, I think negative thoughts about pretty much everyone.. well I better stop before I start another tangent, I just can't explain how detached from life I am and how desperate I am and have been for so many years..

I did some EFT for the first time with my therapist yesterday. She walked be through the points after going through the numbers of what I am trying to release (smoking cigarettes addiction).

Honestly it seemed odd and not long after the session went for the cigarettes instead of tapping. I will continue to try it though and plan to spend some time today reading up more. I think my therapist sent me some additional information as well.

I want to believe in it as at least one tool to support my real desire to rid myself of the addiction.

Thanks for the thread. I look forward to reading and hearing about others experiences.

hahaha :D

well I can always think of more excuses. they just get less and less legitimate and more and more self-sabotaging in nature

yeah, it's tricky getting in a groove.. or knowing where to begin if you haven't done much healing of any nature before.

however, once I did simply start tapping about how I didn't want to do it and low and behold I started tapping about several issues right after that..

hmm I wonder if there's a good reason for my procrastination now.. I really believe eft is the answer to so many problems.. but can't seem to put my finger on it.. how I could have the remedy I've been waiting for all along at my fingertips and still choose disregard it.

ah well I still have a couple more chapters in the book I'm reading..
well, I was smoking weed, and felt healing myself is something I should do sober.. so I have quit smoking again, but am occupying myself otherwise unhealthily.. well maybe I should just stop talking about it until I do something about it..

Xan you would have to read the book I speak of to understand what it's really all about.. there is even an exercise in it that has your palm/hand over a certain part on your chest.. I think it's your collarbone spot.. but the book is really intricate

Xan
13-09-2011, 07:10 PM
Sapphirez... The palm on the chest position covers several points in that area including the collar bone point, the heart center, and the neurolymphic points that used to be part of the basic EFT protocol. These are known as Sore Spots and aid in releasing Psychological Reverals or resistances, such as you are describing.

I find this hand position very effective with the Setup phrase and sometimes it is even enough in itself... especially when used along with the other palm on the the crown of the head and then below the navel... with gentle breathing.

You've given me ideas for possible setup phrases, if you don't mind some suggestions to get you started....

"Even though my excuses are now more obviously self-sabotaging, I deeply love and accept myself."
"Even though I can't put my finger on why I've been procrastinating, ........"
"Even though I occupy myself unhealthily, ........."
"Even though the remedy is literally at my fingertips and I still choose to disregard it, ......."

thank you sweet Xan. hmmm I guess this is how I discover my learning style is best when I'm instructed visually by example.. I don't really know what the chest position is, and to be honest I'm not even sure where exactly the main "sore spot" is that is probably the most important placement in the book I'm reading.. There are pictures in the book and I thought I had it right but really doubt it actually.. maybe I can find a better depiction online. and do you think they are the same positions?

Thank you for the phrase suggestions! They're all so good I don't know which I would pick first.. hmmm.. well, I guess just by reading them and putting a little thought into it I can see the 2nd and 3rd would be most relevant.. since I did recently quit pot which was important and since I am still reading about the eft even if I haven't begun it yet.

the book is called Instant Emotional Healing. it is really awesome, I think that you should give it a read, I would love to hear what you gather from it.. and what your thoughts are on the differing approaches. I think this book incorporates more tft in addition to the emdr, but I could be mistaken because my research over all fields is still relatively minimal.

I have this other book called The Instinct to Heal, which I've only read a portion of, and it talks about emdr and heart coherence. Have you heard of heart coherence?

lol and lastly, Theta healing was mentioned to me today. have you heard anything about that as well? I tried googling but I see copyright symbols all over and it appears a bit more guarded, as in seeing a specialist is nearly a prerequisite.. I didn't delve *that* deeply tho.. but it seems like it's just a way to bring your focus to that certain part or activity of your brain.. and then compliment it with eft

The chest position is simpler than you're making it, Sapphirez. You just put your palm on the center of your chest and that plus your fingers cover quite a few important points.

There is no "main' sore spot, but you feel around on the chest area until you find a spot that's pretty tender and use that. Some practitioners have stopped using the sore spot because it hurts and other positions can be used for the same purpose just as well... such as the Karate Chop point on the outside edge of the hand... or I tell people just to use the chest position.

the book is called Instant Emotional Healing. it is really awesome, I think that you should give it a read, I would love to hear what you gather from it.. and what your thoughts are on the differing approaches.

I did study Instant Emotional Healing a few years ago and found it quite good. The variety of EFT approaches doesn't matter as long as you feel comfortable with it are getting the results you want.

I have this other book called The Instinct to Heal, which I've only read a portion of, and it talks about emdr and heart coherence. Have you heard of heart coherence?

I don't know anything about heart coherence, but I have used emdr with EFT after the release/tapping processes as it helps to integrate the changes through one's body-mind.

Theta healing was mentioned to me today. have you heard anything about that as well?

There may be some effective techniques in "Theta Healing", but the fact that it's so guarded sort of turns me off from the commercialism. EFT is given away freely and works so well.

Theta is the brain wave state of deep meditation, dreaming and creativity. As I see it you could turn any healing method into Theta work just by relaxing down deeply into the silent space within yourself.

I am working on developing some affirmation statements, and am running into a logical breakdown LOL.

Kind of illogical? Does that matter to the subconscious mind?

You're welcome, illusion.

We can use EFT for changing our energy in a moment, to feel better... and for changing our longstanding patterns so we feel better more often.

The affirmation is a good one. The subconscious mind isn't based on logic but on memories, beliefs and emotional patterns.

In fact doing a 'scramble' like this phrase can be quite effective in changing our conditioned self evaluations, and other mind habits as well.

We don't have to already believe "I love and accept myself" in order for it to work... we just have to be willing to say it.

One way to use EFT is to go through the acupoint sequence several times alternating on the points with opposite phrases, such as... "accept myself" ... "don't like myself"... and so on.

that's a nice quote in your signature Xan :hug3:

I wanted to talk to you about some eft stuff but it's sort of stuff I already asked you.. well, like, I wrote down all the things I wanted to change about myself..
and then finally I eventually made a timeline type writing about the incidents from the past that I think are affecting me; things that were done to me and things I've done to others.. but the lists are long, and I really don't know how I can tackle it all. and I guess I still don't even understand the process to do it.
this week I made myself promise to do some eft every morning from the book I told you about a while ago; the eft that is called esm and incorporates emdr, etc.. In the book, it has specific issues, from addictions to anxiety to hiccups to rage and regret, so I've just been picking one thing each day, but I feel like it's not doing anything. I didn't expect to be "all better" suddenly, but still..

I had so much faith in this, but I'm beginning to lose it. and I'm at a point in my life where I really am losing it.. so I really need to heal myself asap.

I'm being kicked out in a little less than 30 days, and I have no job or income and still feel so afraid to go out in public and do what I need to do.. and it's not even really possible for me to make enough money to get my own apartment and the things I would need to be independent (the only furniture I own is a bed and dresser) in that short period of time, but I am not gonna be allowed to stay here anymore. and I don't think anyone is going to save me. I don't know what to do; I thought maybe if I got a waitressing job it would be my best bet because it's the quickest way I know of to make money. But I feel like I couldn't handle it. I picture myself in a restaurant and just shudder.. I applied to a few places before I started writing this now, and when I thought of actually going to one of them it made me sick. Well as usual, I've given too much information.. but I wanted to express how dire my situation is and why it's so important that I need to help myself immediately.

I've been told it's possible for me to just let go, and things like that.. and I'm learning about the amazing power of our thoughts, and I want to live in a loving manner and not in fear, but I feel so troubled and in fear is precisely what I feel I'm living in.
I just did my daily dose of eft/esm, so I feel a bit better right now, but if I think about the premise of working in a restaurant or not knowing what to do about a place to live, etc.. I start feeling horrible again. sounds like I need to dissociate from my own thoughts

well lol this post ends here.. Please reply however you see fit, thank you very much

Xan
18-01-2012, 05:52 PM
Sapphirez... I'm glad you asked.

I suggest you put away your list for now and just work with the present issues.... focusing on your feelings about your situation.

For instance, you could give yourself a long treatment for...

"Even though I feel I can't handle a job, I deeply love and accept myself."
"Even though I feel sick at the thought of going these places for work ....."
"Even though my situation is really dire ...."
"Even though I'm really worried about how and where I will live.... "

and any other feelings you are having now, and keep going deeper.

The key for these healing methods is to focus on the Feelings... covering each and every one until you bring them all to neutral.

Then you can use the acupoints with affirmations such as "I feel confident that I can go ahead now." and so forth.

If you need more specific support please feel free to send me a pm.

Sapphirez, after being a skeptic for a couple months, in a bit of a desperate need for emotional support and help after my son and best friend died within the past 2 years, I got the basic eft info from my chiropractor and I was off. Although my experience is that EFT helped very quickly, it's not like pushing a button and it's automatic, but for all intents and purposes, it really is surprisingly swift at making me feel a whole lot better. The difference with eft as opposed to talk therapy/counseling is that you make a very brief statement, tap on the special spots, which brings up emotional stuff in a way that is much more easy to handle. Little bites, shall we say, of emotional baggage as opposed to the whole lifetime of it. That's the way I've been experiencing it, anyway. And the more I lay there and proceed with eft, the more ideas come forward. I chide myself (gently) whenever I go for a while without doing it. Ya gotta have a little patience with it.

aww Silvergirl that is quite devastating. I'm glad that you've been able to make peace with it and that eft has helped you.

I was so certain that eft could help everyone with almost anything when I started researching it a year or so ago.. but I never know how to assess how I'm feeling, or rather, the progression of things having to do with myself.. I know very well how I'm feeling lol..
there are some instances where I really thought eft helped me have epiphanies so to say, but I guess I still feel horrible in general and with specifics so it's getting hard to believe in it now..
I've tapped on my anxiety and anger more times than I can count and I'm still suffering a lot.
I've tapped on a lot of other things too that I thought or realized were connected but alas my head and heart are still heavy..

I feel that the past issues are still affecting me and that they are ingrained and that is why I can't move forward.

I've learned a lot of wonderful things in this last half a year. things about our real natures and the world.. I think that knowing how pure and powerful we are helps give me some sense of security and confidence, but I still feel plagued.

Xan do you ever promote trying to deal with past experiences through eft?
Silvergirl not trying to tackle a whole lifetime at once does make sense..
but I feel like I won't really be able to move forward unless I address them all.

is there a video that shows the exact format for doing eft that you would recommend? I have seen there are a lot of videos and I started off doing eft that way, but then I began doing it the esm way from the Instant Emotional Healing book, and when you tap at certain points, you don't even say anything at all.. and you only tap on certain points. Like it has 28 different issues (in alphabetic order, from addictions to hiccups to pms to shame, etc..)
and first you do a polarity reversal exercise, where you rub on the chest spot and go through different issues that might prevent you from getting over your problem; like you say I deeply and completely accept myself, despite all my problems and limitations, then you say you accept yourself even if it won't be safe or good for you or others, even if you think you don't deserve to get over it, even if it's not possible for you to get over it, even if there's a unique block, etc.. So, first you do a balanced breathing exercise (which I've been doing every morning for over a year) then you do the polarity reversal and then you do the tap sequence, which ranges from tapping 2-18 times.. like you might just tap on your eyebrow, chin, collarbone and thumbnail.. or you might tap on one spot, tap somewhere else, then tap on the same 1st spot again, etc.. it changes for each issue. They say that they arrived at those particular sequences by muscle testing.

but anyways, I think it's really cool, but think that maybe for some things I should be doing a more conventional type of tapping. what would you suggest please?

I've stuck with the original first few spots ~ #1 the brow #2 outside of the eye, #3 under the eye, #4 under the nose, #5 under the lower lip, #6 chest. I just have stuck with those and didn't use the hand points at all. To me, it just keeps it simple and I can concentrate on the affirmations. And yeah, you do (I do) address them all, as they come up! It's that simple, really. I mean how can you feasibly do them 'all at once'? Things pop up...I think of one thing that's appropriate to say, something I'm concerned about, whether it's anxiety, or a situation, and just keeping those simple tapping points gives you the freedom in your mind to keep thinking of more and more little things you can say. (I can say...) It's like sooner or later, I've thought of a whole bunch of little things to say, creating a chain of issues. I say don't give up. Maybe just try it the way I've been doing it and dump all the other ways and methods ~ maybe just keeping it simple like that could help. I hope you can figure out a way for to get it to work well for you.

I think that the book way could be very helpful, especially for people who seem to think eft doesn't work for them, but I guess my purpose now may better be addressed with a simpler way yeah..
I have cried a lot of times while doing the eft that way though.. when I'm rubbing the chest spot.

lol I have some ocd/perfectionist type issues, so I can't lie and say I don't cringe when thinking of only using those 6 spots.. there's the under arm and there's the collarbone (unless that's the same as your #6 chest) and also the top of the head along with the spots on your hand.

You don't happen to make videos at all do you? so I could see exactly how you do it? how do you begin, just by starting to tap on the brow? or, like other places I saw that you say something about what you're addressing 3 times, like either the chest spot or the karate chop hand spot, you say you accept yourself despite whatever 3 times, and Then you go to tap on all the face spots and stuff..

well, see, I feel like my issues are a big spider web, well not spider! I hate spiders lol.. I've tapped on fear of them so many times too and I was still terrified of them.. but, so like, I see that it's like one big web, all my issues are sort of connected in a way.. so it's kind of hard to just address one thing and then stop, as it goes on and on... but then, I feel at the root of the issues, is the past issues I haven't resolved in my mind..

thank you :hug3:

Yes! That's right ~ they are connected. That's what I discovered anyway, which I kinda knew ~ Sometimes I'll think of one or two and then I'll think of 6 or 7 or more and have to hurry up and tap the 6 or 7 spots before I forget what they are but I'm so happy when that happens....I start at the inner brow, then outer eye, then underneath the eye, then under the nose, then under the lower lip, and finally the chest and that's it. As I tap, I try to create a steady rhythm, too, as I'm saying it and that has a calming effect on me. And I say each one once per set. If that makes sense. That's how I remember the directions and it seems to work for me.

P.s. I saw no reason for my way of thinking, to learn or to do anything further once I knew the very basics. That was fine with me!

thank you Silvergirl =)

would you mind being a bit more specific? I'm very detail-oriented and that's how I learn best. like could you run me through one of your tap sessions?

do you just start tapping at the eyebrow and say one word at each point, or what precisely do you do? ♥

According to the directions I got from my chiro, you're supposed to say the affirmation sentence at each of the tapping points, which is what I do. And from my own experience with it, I learned that you keep a rhythm going at each tapping point when you say the sentence. I'd like you to try that for yourself, and then it's just a matter of repeating it at each tapping point. And yes, I start tapping at the brow point as I say the whole affirmation, then move to the next point and so on, repeating the one affirmation at each point.

Xan do you ever promote trying to deal with past experiences through eft?

Yes, of course. In fact all our emotional issues come from the past. And... this is what the Movie Technique is for. Gary Craig, EFT founder, said that addressing specific past events has been shown to be the most effective approach with EFT.

As for why you're not getting the results you want, I'm quite sure it's Not because of how you're using the techniques, but there are core emotional issues and events that are still hidden and not treated.

For this reason, working with a trained EFT practitioner is best when we're not making progress on our own. I understand that you don't have money now, but if you scout around you may find someone who would work with you for free, or for a trade of some kind.

Maybe someone here can help me:

I'm quite new to EFT...I find it usually quite hard to concentrate on the neative feeling I work at. It just gets lost along the way. Which is good in a way but trouble is that its back after some time.

How do you keep focused on the feeling?

cheers

The way a friend did it for me once was focus on the incident that upset me...where was it on a scale of 1-10?
A 10.
Then we did the procedure....what was it now when I picture it?
A 7.
Did procedure again and one more time...until I pictured the entire incident from beg to end...
And I could not muster up any feeling about it at all.
Never thought of it again.

This may not help you, it's just an exp I had....I'm thinking just repeat procedure till it is at 'zero'.
??

Hello,
I read that it is important to focus on the feeling during the whole procedure - and this is something I can't.
I can't focus on the feeling and after one or two runs I can't say where the feeling is on the scale...

[QUOTE=Sapphirez]hahaha :D

hmm I wonder if there's a good reason for my procrastination now.. I really believe eft is the answer to so many problems.. but can't seem to put my finger on it.. how I could have the remedy I've been waiting for all along at my fingertips and still choose disregard it.{/QUOTE]

The "excuse" I've heard about is that this type of thing brings about real change, and we are so comfortable in our "what is known" realms that we fight change on every level kicking and screaming. Regardless of how good we know something will be. I've been trying to use Holosync as well as eft... and yea.. I really have to force myself some times.

Kydilee if you see this thread would you like to tell me what Holosync is and what your experiences' been since you posted that?

i don't go through all the emotional stuff...it came from tft (thought field technique). you could call it tapping (i.e. leave out the emotions, thought (mind) and physical body) it works however you view so is not dependant on any of these. also telling (quotes) "qualified" strangers all your probs is not for me, not that they can't help sometimes. so i would only ever do it alone or on someone else but i would only bless, i would never ask questions or try to to assert a new world view on the patient; that new "positive" thinking religion.

regarding the approach of just saying a blessing on the acupuncture points. i.e. shining a light and that wipes away the turmoil any way, you've no need to focus in on anything; a few folk do it like this. i just say "bless this body i lovingly accept you, amen the love" as i'm tapping (amen not being in the christian sense)...it can and does release turmoil very quickly...turmoil can be caused by a toxic liver....it comes from both ways not just emotions.

i suggest folk look up the points on google etc and give a try. and doing every day all day just doesn't feel right. if it works should it be needed that much? you could get ocd with tapping if you're not carefull but it is powerfull

The basic EFT procedure doesn't require one to 'focus' on the 'feeling' - all you have to do is think of a briefly worded (hopefully) concern and simply say the sentence while tapping on the points and that's all. It's like once you've created your sentence, all you do is repeat it on each point.

Going to bump again by saying...

I tried this yesterday. I went through various 'issues' though only had a strong/noticable reaction on one.

Though it wasn't emotional as I was expecting. I had a collection of energy appear on the top of my left leg. I want to say it was hot.. without any heat and as i continued to tap down the feeling was moving down my leg.

I decided to follow it down over other meridians I knew about until it was in my big toe. Then after it disappeared from my toe i tapped my toe (whether a meridian there or not i felt compelled to chase it all the way out lol).

It that the blockage removed? I am a little confused if it was the fear gone?

All I can say is around '94, I laugh, (so 21 years ago!),
I still would get so bothered, SO bothered by others endangering my life in traffic.

I arrived at a friend's so upset by this fur coated,
Cadillac lady almost killing me! Red light situation...
(Now, I realize many people are on meds, poor things.)
So my therapist friend practices her new found TFT, from Dr. Calahan, now EFT
routine on me.
From a 10 of anger...it went to a 6...then to a Zero.
If I 'tried" to get angry remembering the incident ...there was nothing there!
It was gone! In, what, 3 minutes, maybe.

I'm a believer....in EMDR, also.

what do you think is the best way to self treat with this, do you have a good book or website to recommend? Or do you think outside help is necessary?
