Numerology: Calculate Your Personal Numbers
The most important numbers in your chart are the personality, life path, karma (or wisdom) and personal year numbers. In addition it is possible to work out your monthly, weekly or even daily personal numbers – the personal year number, however, is said to be the most powerful. Although please note that apparently the universal year number can have a large say over your life too.
Personality number contains your potential psychological patterns of behavior. To find this number simply add up the numbers in the day of the month on which you were born.
For example: John Smith born on 27th November. 27 is the day in the month on which John was born, to find a digit between 1 and 9 simply add the compound digits together as follows:
2 + 7 = 9 therefore John’s personality number is 9.
Life Path number gives you information about where you fit into the bigger picture in life, giving you potential direction, as well as soul elements.
To find this number add up all the numbers in your date of birth.
For example: John Smith was born 27th November 1984.
Add up the day and month of birth; 27 + 11 = 38
Add up the year of birth; 1984 = 1 + 9 + 8 + 4 = 22
Add up 38 + 22 = 60
To find a single digit between 1 and 9 add 6 + 0 = 6 therefore John’s life path number is 6.
Karma/Wisdom number can contain potential gifts from your past experiences, gives you information about past lives and additional life lessons to be learnt.
To find this number you need to translate all the letters in your full name that’s on your birth certificate and add them up.
The key for letters to numbers is as follows:
1 A J S
2 B K T
3 C L U
4 D M V
5 E N W
6 F O X
7 G P Y
8 H Q Z
9 I R -
For example: J O H N S M I T H
1 6 8 5 1 4 9 2 8
Add up all these numbers which in this example = 44
Add up 4 and 4 = 8
(These numbers need to be added up until a single digit between 1 and 9 is reached).
In this case, John’s Karma/wisdom number is 8.
Personal Year Cycles
Your personal year number runs from one birthday to the next and influences the experiences which may occur in that year.
For example: John Smith born 21/11/1984. Today’s date 24/08/2009
Step 1 – Add up the year of your last birthday, e.g. John’s last birthday was in 2009 as he has not had his birthday this year.
That is 2 + 0 + 0 + 8 = 10 and 1 + 0 = 1
Step 2 – Add up your day and month of birth. John’s is 27th November which is 27 + 11 = 38, 3 + 8 = 11, 1 + 1 = 2.
Step 3 – Now add the two final numbers in step 1 and 2, so in this case it will be 1 + 2 = 3 so John’s personal year number is 3, this will change from year to year.
Universal Year number changes every year and influences major trends and cycles of events globally. This can and does have a huge influence on your life.
To find this number all you have to do is add up the numbers contained within the appropriate year.
For example: 2009 = 2 + 0 + 0 + 9 = 11 = 1 + 1 = 2, universal year 2

The various cycles 1 – 9 are said to be as follows:

2 = balance
3 = expansion
4 = consolidation
5 = changes
6 = wholeness
7 = completion
8 = karma
