Reminishing while mowing today about my fav scenes with laughter in it.
Whether it be from movies, tv shows, youtube vids, any kind of visual entertainment.
By all means, share yuor favs, i would like to read about them.

My current no.1 laugh in a movie is from Fight Club.
The scene where Tyler Durden, down in the basement, is having his face smashed in by Lou the bar owner,
and Tyler starts laughing either during his beating, or when he is on top of Lou dripping his blood all over him,
or when Lou and Tyler are pulled away from each other.
I just can't recall the exact momemnt Tyler starts laughing, but it's such an awesome laugh.

My second fav is from The 5th Element.

The scene is in Father Cornelius's apartment.
And the editing together of the various characters involved is what realy enhances the laugh.

Leeloo is on the computer looking for something, she has not yet learned english, so speaks in her own dialect,
with a single english word said every now and then.

Leeloo and Father Cornelius are in conversation about the Stones.
Leeloo says something about the stones, then Father Cornelius translates for his aid and the audience of course.

And nearly everytime Father Cornelius translates something said about the stones,
we cut to the scene of Zorg meeting up with the Mangalores who have the stones in the fancy looking box
Zorg employed the Mangalores to steal the stones, in exchange for a few crates of The ZF1,
the Zork corporation's best selling handheld weapon.

So Leeloo and Cornelius discuss the stones,
cut to Zorg arriving at the secret meeting place with the Mangalores, Atnot the name of their leader.
Then cut back to the apartment, and back and forth etc.

Argh , stuff it, i'm too tired.
Very very long story short..
Cornelius asks where are the stones,.
Cut to Zorg opening the box with the stones in it.
Cut back to apartment, Leeloo says the stones were stolen.
Cut back to Zorg closing the box and not happily saying, this box is empty.
Cut back to apartment, Leeloo laughs
And what an awesome laugh it is.

When me and me kids first watched it at home on DVD.
I would rewind to the beginning of the laugh and play it over and over, so delighted by this laugh.
Eventually me kids got sick of it, and demanded we watch the rest of the movie.

Just thought of three more fav laughs.

The life of Brian.
Scene: Dungeon Cell.
A prisoner hanging up side down (Michael Palin)
Brian is in there too.

Brian and prisoner have been having a convo, Brain is deeply troubled about being in jail. The prisoner is has happy as pig in mud.
A guard walks up ( john Cleese)
Cleese: Oi you(Brian), Pontius Pilot wants to see you.
Brian: Pilot? what does pilot wan to see me about?
Cleese: dunno, probably wants to know which way you want to be crucified.
~Palin laughs!~ Oh ho ho ho hoooo, nice one centurion , nice one"

Top laugh that!

Peter Griffin from Family Guy when he laughs two distinct ways.
1: A quick short loud HAH!
2: A longer one HAAH! with a sort of "oh you got burned " inflection

Ricky Gervais' high pitched laughs in all the outakes i have from the youtubes

okay, i'm done for now....
oh no.. there's this youtube clip of..gee..whatshisface?...
Steve Carrell on..gee..whatsitsface?...That interview show with that old guy with the glasses and the bald guy who runs the music band.

Anyways so Steve Carrell is doing his impersonation of "non emotional guy" or something.
So he pulls a dead pan face while laughing his head off.
Issa so funny , the whole messing with your mind, hering this guy laugh so much but has no matching facial expressions.

now imma done...

Three funny moments that spring to mind are:-

- from The Life Of Brian - where Jesus is talking to a throng of people gathered over the hillside. Terry Jones character (dressed as a woman) is very far back and pipes up "speak up!" She says she can't hear what is being said. A nearby gentle man said "blessed are the cheesemakers...but it probably refers to all dairy products".

- in The Odd Couple where the Jack Lemmon character has just overdosed on pills and visits his friend's apartment, where they were playing poker. On discovering the news, they all fuss around him wondering what to do. Walther Matthau tries to stop the panic and asks what pills he took...."for all we know they might be vitamin pills...he could be the healthiest person in the building!"

- in a Woody Allen film (forget which one), he's at the top of the outside stairs to a house. The woman is distraught and he tries to act all strong and cool, saying "lean on me". She literally does - he subsequently buckles and collides with her into a sidebush! :happy6:

If you will notice, all the ones i shared are about the laughter done by each character or person in the scenes, not what i find funny in movies tv shows etc.
Gee, if this thread was about sharing fav funny scenes, the thread would go on for just about forever.
No, this thread is about laughing, what is your fav expression/act of laughter you have seen in visual entertainment.

Actually I did laugh whilst reading your OP. It was when your kids got sick of the laugh being replayed and wanted to watch the rest of the movie!

In the movie A Soldier's Story (1984), there's a scene where
a character is saying: "they still hate you", while laughing.
This is a very powerful moment in the story, but it's not at all funny.
There's another laugh scene I like; it's at the end of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963).
Spencer Tracey, laments: "I wish I could laugh about something".

How about the classic Abbott & Costello "Who's On First" routine? That always gives me a good laugh :D

No worries Mountain-Goat, I was just feeling a bit mardy and unacknowledged. :binkybaby: <----- not sure why this one, but I'm going through emoticons that I haven't used much. Maybe I was being a bit of a baby (mardy). Ha!

I find it a good quality to be able to know yourself Squatchit.
In a forum situation, unless verified via enquiry, there are many reasons why a post is not responded to.

I read your post and interpreted, based on no verbal mention clips were about laughter,
but only that those clips were something that made you laugh.

I hope our combined efforts in resolving the miscommunication glitch has relieved those thoughts and feelings you mentioned.
And just to be sure..this is for you...
