2nd hand citizens ? LOL! At some places we wouldn't know how to carry on otherwise. Although discriminatory titles are bad, they cannot kill us like bullets, disease, or starvation. The movement, the activism is very spiritual.

Similar signs are posted outside establishments near American Indian reservations. Of course the owners reserve the right to not allow certain people into such establishments. It's like they either hate us, or fear us. Perhaps both.

Although disturbed by such hatred, we are quite use to it.

I realize this must be a hard reality for some to grasp, especially those who try to imagine us from a distance in a fanciful manner.

It is quite sad. And pathetic on the part of the bar owners. Although not unique in any way; I know there are bars right here in Norway in the biggest cities where the door guards will not fail to find something unacceptable with people of undesirable skin colors and deny them access. I was also told by a coworker once who studied in the US and found an Asian wife while there, that she refused to leave the car at gas stations while passing through the southern US. The world is quite full of fear and hatred wherever you go, isn't it.

I got thrown out of a bar like that over 30 years ago in Arizona. Being young and already rather intoxicated, I failed to even take notice of the sign outside. I think it upset the bouncers even more because of my laughing at the whole ordeal which seemed to me like some scene out of an old bad B-movie western. One was so mad while lighting a cigarette, he caught his bushy western style moustache on fire. When my butt hit the parking lot outside the door, I was still roaring with laughter.

Other American Indians have fared worse in or near such establishments.

His moustache caught fire....?! Wonderful. Wisa'ka, one day I will be happy to offer you a beer even if we need to sneak in somewhere where both of us are considered undesirables. Shouldn't be hard find.

I don't drink all that much anymore, but I'd be honored to quaff a few with you.

We should of known it was futile to resist.

Here's a rather interesting film which explains what happened to Native American Indians -

my native reserve is penelakut tribes, one of the small islands near vancouver bc canada, this island went under alot of attacks from the army and the natives that lived way further north of us here, there's book about it called Terror Of The Coast by Chris Arnett. hope that was the right name, there's not to many of us living here now because we have to catch a bc ferry to town to shop, the fare prices keep going higher every year too
