I noticed the phases of the moon looked different to me several months ago. Instead of the crescent being on the right or the left I started seeing it near the bottom of the moon. Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tomTyOAEZwg

I asked my coworkers about it at the time and they hadn't noticed anything. Now they are noticing!

I also noticed also during the winter's solstice that at 5 pm there was still light. I know from the past that it was completely dark at this time. I used to walk home from work at 5 pm and remember this distinctly. I looked out the window at 5 pm on Dec 22 and there was light! What's up??!!

Okay, someone at work sent me this so I'm not being observant?!

in progress--

Hiya! Yes, as a matter of fact, I found myself wondering about this a few months back. I was thinking that the moon on a lot of the temples and flags of the middle east showed a crescent moon that was not either left or right-facing, but facing up (like a u).

I didn't get very far in my research (because I found I was wrong about the temples).

But I'm guess that anyplace that is far north from the equator has these differences occurring.

Which makes me wonder--what happens when you live very far south of the equator. Does the crescent moon then look like an upside-down U? :)
