A small comet, Lovejoy, just went through the sun’s corona about 87,000 miles (140,000 kilometers) from the sun’s surface. Corona temperatures can reach 2M degrees Fahrenheit (1.1M degrees Celsius) & most astronomers thought the icy comet would be completely destroyed.

Do you know what the core was made of? (specifically, I mean. I know what the general composition of a comet is) Also, do you know of any explanations behind how it survived?
