I just got this deck a few days ago. It's pretty awesome. Very different. There are a lot of things you can do with this that you can't do with any other deck.

And I came across this link soon after getting the deck:

http://www.students-of-tarot.com/transparent/indexMM.php (http://www.spiritualforums.com/vb/redir.php?link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.students-of-tarot.com%2Ftransparent%2FindexMM.php)

It's like an interactive online version of the deck. You'll need your java program to be working properly though. It gives you a reading using this deck, like some other online automatic tarot reading sites do. But you can move the cards around with your mouse and you have the option to display them without the borders. It's fun. And no matter how deeply layered the cards are in this online version, you'll see the picture on the bottom clearly.

In person, the cards are a little tricky to work with. You need to have good lighting, and preferably a white background. But the deck comes with a white cloth to read them on. They don't shuffle well, because the plastic kind of sticks. Plus while shuffling you will kind of see which cards are coming up on top because it's transparent lol.

When you have a pile of about 10 cards, you can still see the picture on the card at the bottom, but it gets murky. It's kind of neat in a way though. You could use this in your readings to interpret the murkier looking pictures in the background as weaker influences or something far into the future or something like that. You can also turn the whole pile around to see them all from the other side.

With this deck you can do reversals and mirror image cards, however you'd want to interpret that in your readings. The book it comes with is pretty neat. It has lots of pictures of different things you can do with the deck.

And something I like to do is use it with other decks. In good lighting, you can place a transparent card on top of a card from another deck and see the image superimposed on it.. then have fun interpreting what that might mean.

I think you or someone else posted about this deck a short while ago elsewhere and I went to aeclectic and read about them, except for some of the awkwardness in dealing with them, it sounds like a good idea that could possibly be improved on in the near future, hopefully. I still have yet to get me a couple or three decks that call me, one of which is the Dragons (plural) deck. There are so darn many to look at and choose from.

I've actually thought about getting this deck. But once again, I just felt a little too intimidated at having to memorize the meanings behind so many cards. I get my best intuitive information from the images, and this deck just doesn't seem like something I'll be able to handle for quite some time, even though I love the concept behind them. There is also a transparent oracle deck by the same people, that I was thinking about starting out with first.

I would like to check out that link though. Who knows, maybe if I can play around with them a bit, I might just change my mind about them being intimidating.

When I read I have the other person pick a random number off the top of their head...if too big use numerology to break it down..and shuffle that many times.

Actually for me the person doesn't even need to state their question, as the number reveals what's on their mind.

But, this I can see working well with this deck. It wouldn't matter then if you see what's being shuffled to the top.

Just thought I would share. :)

Had another good look at transparent cards. Dont think I could manage the overlay thingy. Much as I think I am intuitive, spiritual, etc, there is still 50-some years as an Industrial Chemist - hard logic and practicality. So, flying high in my mind but with feet firmly buried in the ground. Pity !

I have had this deck for I think a year now... I love them. Don't worry about the shuffling as I manage them quite well now. They are easy to interpret and I quickly get a sense of what each card means as soon as I lay it down. They are especially meaningful when combined on top of each other in a 3 card reading. Then it is almost a story.

They hold up well. I've used mine almost every day. My friends love to have readings with them. Have fun with yours!

Thank you Myfigo. I was curious about how durable they would be. The material seems like it would scratch easily. I heard that the first edition was made from a different kind of material. If that's true, I wonder how they'd compare.

I was petrified they would scuff and be hard to read... but I looked just now and while they do have fine scuff marks from being shuffled... they read quite well. I hadn't even noticed until I went to look for it.

I love this deck. In particular, combining the images by layering cards really helps me with intuitive reading, as opposed to focusing on the traditional meanings of the cards. Both those styles have their place, but for years I never could quite get the intuitive reading thing to work for me, till the Transparent Deck came along.
