Does anyone write/receive love letters from their s/o? Every so often dh or I will feel inspired to write the other a long letter detailing our thoughts & feelings about our relationship. It's one of the things that has kept our relationship as strong as it is. We've been married 9 yrs now & this morning I got the sweetest letter from him. I got halfway through it & couldn't hold back the tears any more. It's wonderful to be shown all the wonderful things others see in you and to be told how much you're appreciated. I would really recommend this kind of thing for all relationships...not just lovers.

What a good thread. And you're right that such letters can be between friends too. Friendship and platonic relationships are the purest form of love anyway. My best friend and I, who have known each other for close to 48 years, e-mail each other nearly every day, and discuss everything. I'm a close friend for just as long with her husband, and have known her children all their lives. My relationship with her is deeper and richer than any romance I've ever had. On a related note, I supported myself while in school writing letters and poetry for fellow students and faculty members.

Temperance, it's good that you do it with your best friend...it's a wonderful way to let people know you love them. And when you do find that someone with whom you're comfortable enough to share something like that...you'll have had good practice!! :D
