View Full Version : stabbing pains - is this connected to meridians?

For as long as I can remember I have had sensations like I am being stabbed with a needle. It can be in any point around my body.

But, sometimes I feel it shoot up through my body like it is following a meridian and a split second later I feel it somewhere else along that meridian.

It's very quick generally but yesterday it kept happening and it lasted a couple of seconds each time.

I used to pass it off as a nerve firing... but I wonder if it is connected to meridians somehow.

from what I've heard, it can be part of the kundalini awakening. Is it like little electric shocks?

yes.. but I've had it for as long as I can remember, and my mum gets it too.

it can also be vit d & magnesium deficiency .. go get your levels checked to be on the safe side. It's also connected to fibromyalgia .. just a thought and another perspective on it

Hi Jules

Thanks heaps for taking the time to reply. I take massive doses of Vit d3 every day and also magnesium for SAD... I wonder how I would go about getting it checked. Do GP's do it on request?

Don't think it is fibro, once again, as I have had it for so long.. and it doesn't happen all that often...

"massive doses of Vit d3 every day"

How massive ? There are doubts over taking mega-doses of many vitamins.

There studies say it is safe to take 10,000 iu a day. I am taking 5,000 iu. Doctors prescribe up to 50,000 iu a week to people.

Trust me, I didn't start taking them without doing some research. At Vit D is only sourced from sunlight I think the liver (kidneys? didn't do boilogy) just gets rid of what it doesn't need. So the worst I can be doing is wasting my money.

I have spent the last 2 winters researching SAD.

I will point out that these stabbing pains don't happen very often, they could be weeks apart. It's just I never see anyone else suddently going "ouch!!" like i do. They are so sharp and quick they make me jump.

Is there no-one on the site that knows about accupuncture?

you're ex... did you learn anything from her? Can you ask her?

Will try but we dont meet often. Normally, the bite you get when a needle hits the point precisely is just for an instant, not prolonged.

it is normally really fast.. like a quick stab, like a sharp needle has just been stabbed into me and pulled out again really fast.

In acupuncture, the shock does not go on when there is no needle.

ok.. just trying to explain how fast it is, it is a split second "ouch!" then it's gone.

I realise this may not be connected to needle accupuncture, but it may be connected to something going on in the meridians.

Is it similar to toothache ? Like an electric shock ?

never had toothache

imagine someone stabbed you with a very fine needle and pulled it out and it stopped hurting. very sharp, very short "ouch"

Sounds like meridian or nervous system firing, for sure.

so, should I take note of where it is? should I do something specific when it happens???

It would not hurt to keep track but not to be obsessive over it. After all, you say that your mother has it also, has she noticed any trends in it - does it improve/worsen at specific times, etc ?

Fibromyalgia?

Norse... It's just been one of those things that has ALWAYS happened.. it could be weeks or even months apart.

Trag.. honestly, there are no other symptoms and I have had it since I was a kid. I really don't think it is an illness as otherwise I am pretty healthy.

guys, please don't make this out to be more than it is. I just wondered if it was connected to the meridians... it's no big deal and not signs of a terrible illness... honestly....

I know what you mean. I have had some weird bodily tendencies all my life. Some of them really seem weird and worrisome to other people when I tell them, but to me it really is of no consequence. And most of them are still mysteries.

I agree with norseman with the feel of accupunture. I just had two sessions of accupuncture about two months ago for a back problem. Accupuncture, properly done, hardly feels like being stabbed like a needle. There's only a tiny prick when the needle goes in. Not even enough to make me jump.

We can have sensations of palpable energy movement. This can vary considerably. Even if most don’t feel their energy moving it doesn’t mean this is something that is inaccessible for you.

Donna Eden, an experienced energy worker, writes about being intimately familiar w/ seeing energy her whole life w/ making no effort to do so & professionally working w/ it in her book, ‘Energy Medicine.’
