I woke up this morning with a spider crawling over me. Last night I felt the need for a spiritual death and rebirth, however that may come about.
I looked up spider symbolism ans the following list was associated with my arachnid buddy.
-Cunning
-Progressive
-Female
-Cyclical
-Rebirth
-Death
-Crafty
-Resourceful
-Creation
-Protection
-Fate
Can anyone add to the spiritual symbolism for spiders?
Thanks,
Ginsengi

Yes....she is considered by Native Americans to be the Grandmother creator of the world. They refer to her as grandmother.
Her messages seem to me for me to have been mostly about expressing creativity.

I kept seeing spiders for months...they would turn up everywhere, dead and alive. In my dreams too. Definitely very symbolic. This reminds me of something I'd like to post about...

I don't know what the message for me is, but we've had a large black spider trying to move into the house for the last week. I've chased it out once or twice, the kids have chased it out once.
Yesterday I stepped into the bathroom and the darn thing jumped at me. It missed and scuttled under the door. I went in and closed the door, watching and waiting, but didn't see it. So I sat down, and was doing what I needed to do when I saw it climbing up the inside of the door.
So I grabbed a magazine, folding it in half, and swatted the darn thing. I can peacefully co-exist with spiders when they don't make a spectacle of themselves or jump at me, but I don't put up with that.
What IS the meaning?

Toughness and secrecy. My teacher Glenn Morris was very big on spiders, and they are contacted shamanically in the ninja lineages according to his idea, for their ability to survive everywhere and often in secret. When I active Glenn's particular energy, I will get spiders around the house.

Are you experiencing conflict with a dominate female figure in your life?
If you dreamed what you just shared, it could mean that and I have found that dream interpretations are very helpful in interpreting meaning in real life instances.
Then again, sometimes it just means a spider got in your house........sometimes more......you need to be able to discern the difference first.
Blessings, James

No, I did not dream it. I woke up with a funnel weaver taking up residence in my cleavage. :icon_eek: My first thought was "Anansi has a wicked sense of humor." My second was "Okay, what does it mean?"

Nope, not a dream, it was all too real. I've seen lots of spiders both inside and outside, but I don't remember ever having one jump at me before. It's an interesting idea - I did have my first visit with a therapist the day before - so I hope it's not a sign of difficulty in that relationship. There needs to be a balance between therapist and client, the therapist should not be "a dominant female figure" in my life.

I have always had a very strong fear of spiders, and I still do. I don't kill them anymore because I realize that's wrong, plus I do find them to be spiritual nowadays myself. But I am still scared of them, often having someone else capture them and put them outside when they're found.
I've had some interesting experiences with spiders. When I was 15 I found a brown recluse on my bedroom door (when I lived in my dad's basement) and When I tried to get him, he zipped as fast as lightening down the door and on the floor towards me, which caused me to freak out and I just ran upstairs. I wouldn't sleep back down there until someone killed it for me, my parents told me that they were sure he went away the next day, but it wasn't until 2 weeks after the first siting that I found him and killed him.
I don't know why, but I just knew he wasn't going anywhere, and I slept upstairs on my sister's floor until I found him lol. I've always felt like spiders can sense my fear and purposely chase me or try to mess with me because they know this.

here is an Incan descendant talking about the Nazca lines, specifically the spider.
QUESTION - "Can I ask you to speak for just only a few minutes on the Nazca lines?”
ANSWER from Willaru - In the ancient times, the Lemurian, Atlantean and at first the first Incas exactly
knew the three steps, the solar cosmic universal culture. In South America there were many different
kingdoms. There were Paracus, Mocheeka Cheemu, Chabing, and Quetchua, Aymaras from Tiawanaku,
there were hundreds. The Nazca was one of these and they were working with the solar lines. From time
to time also when those masters from the past worked exactly, when they came back with the teachings
of the great masters, they knew exactly what to do. They knew geometry, physics, mathematics,
chemistry, etc., and the result was grace, happiness, enlightenment. For example, if you want to have
light, if you don't know how to work with electricity, it will blow up. In the same way, the spiritual light
is the result of chemistry, psychics, mathematics and all that. All these lines have something to do with
illumination, to bring light from the Universal Cosmic Christ. Of course, they are also solar lines. The
crop circles manifesting in England are not the first time these have occurred. It is not the first time.
They have manifested for thousands and thousands of years in different countries.
...
Every one of the symbols of the Nazca lines, like an animal, etc., is guidance for humanity, is a warning,
for the disciple of the ancient mystery school. For example, the spider means that a test is coming, there
will be a temptation. There is danger. You have to be careful. You have to be aware. You have to be in
the self-remembering. You have to go inside for protection, because the spider is the symbol of black
magic, also of white magic. It is good and bad. It is hard to say it is bad only, or good only. If a spider
appears in your house, this is a warning. If you don't want to kill, just take them away, because they don't
belong in your house. Just be aware to get ready.

I always felt spiders were patient and careful.
Spiders are haemophiliacs, all of them. If they get hurt even once they die.
So in a way, fragility.
There's more than enough ignorant remarks about spiders being dangerous and negative though.
I prefer to think of them as silent, patient hunters. In a way they are also careful architects and weavers. And in a very special way, they are very sensitive and loving mothers who gracefully care for their young. They will guard egg sacs and carry young spiderlings on their back protectively.

In Welsh legend, the spider is a symbol of Arianrhod, the Weaver Goddess. Out of her own body she spins the thread of being and weaves it to form matter - the cosmos itself. She is the Goddess of Fate who spins the thread of destiny and weaves the web that joins all life together.
The spider's web is the pattern of life itself, and some say that the spider's web is the thirteenth sign of the zodiac, representing fate and destiny.

I have high admiration for them, too. They get a healthy respect from me, yes, as some can be poisonous. When my son was small, I used to take him to the public library and he invariably would get book after book about spiders. One day we were talking about his seeming fascination for them, to find out he was terrified and phobic about them which surprised me a whole lot because of the extra large pictures of them on the cover and inside. In my personal experiences with them, they're minding their own business, but when I walk into one of their webs, I get flustered but then I feel the joke's on me, haha silly person, you didn't see my web but they just want to catch a meal and they have to start all over again, so patience, has to be one of their top virtues and hard workers, giving all they have into these beautiful webs.
